What Richo, the ABC or other media commentators have to acknowledge is the umpire has clearly said "touched, touched play on" all they have to do is listen to a replay of the final minutes of the game. It would be great if the AFL issue a statement verifying this fact and end all conjecture.

Mate, after the 2016 GF.....we will NOT "let it go". It just ain't gonna happen. My personal view is that many Swans supporters are becoming too AFL focused and are fostering this mentality that the Victorian AFL clubs and the AFL are against them. The AFL gave the Swans Ron Barassi and a chance to keep operating in the early 90s when crowds were empty, sponsorship was low and the team was losing 20 games in a row.
In the words of John Rambo or Frozen
“Let it go”. “Let it go”Comment

Offsiders used to be a staple for me, but I tend to miss it now unless Caroline Wilson is on. I generally find the analysis shallow and the takes piping. My thoughts exactly.....and as for the apparent 'howler' that the media is banging on about, I was disappointed to see on The Offsiders on the usually factual ABC this morning that they too were banging on about whether the kick went 15 metres! Do your effing research Offsiders and deal with facts! The ball (and the call) was 'touched'. Frustrating that so many want to diminish our teams achievement.Comment

A touch negative and now irrelevant. RB should have received a free for high contact. Move on.In the final seconds RB was very lucky and seemed to be assuming he would get a free for the high shot. Ump didn't see it that way.
If the siren hadn't sounded when it did, I think the ump may have paid holding the ball, mainly due to there being no attempt to clear it out. 1 or 2 more seconds and I'm sure he would've been pinged for holding the ball.

The game (on a knife edge, admittedly towards the end) , the crowd , the noise , the intensity , it was all like a semi final .
Just a memorable electrifying night at the footy .
The Public address noise is a health (hearing) hazard ...
Then they turn on the sprinklers just at the start of KtoK on the outside ground . WTF !Comment

Great effort by the boys and has to be one of our best wins. I admit I was disgusted by our first quarter effort and was ready to turn off the TV and read a book. Fantastic effort and I ask you, is T Hickey the recruit of the year?? The only down side was the poor form of Isaac Heeney. Maybe best to give him a rest with his broken hand. He gave us nothing last night.Comment

I don’t think so, Rowbottom ducked and drove his head into Selwood. That won’t be called high contact. Rowbottom/we were saved by the siren. I reckon one more second and he would have been penalised for HTB as he was making no attempt to dispose. Nice to have some good fortune at the end!Comment

Sorry Meg disagree. If you look at the game there was a few ducking of the heads and it was always paid as a high tackle. So given the previous assessments, it could have easily been a head high contact. But it is nice to have some good fortune at the end.!!I don’t think so, Rowbottom ducked and drove his head into Selwood. That won’t be called high contact. Rowbottom/we were saved by the siren. I agree, I think the Umpire got it right on both counts. It wasn't a high tackle and wasn't quite long enough for holding the ball. Completely saved by the siren, it's great to have some luck in those critical momentsI don’t think so, Rowbottom ducked and drove his head into Selwood. That won’t be called high contact. Before the main tackle, he received contact to his head as Selwood came in to tackle him. Clear as day. Diving in to grab the ball is not 'ducking'. Then Selwood had both his legs wrapped around RB's head, ie: clearly he's being tackled above the shoulders.....illegally. It matters little now anyway and the match result was the correct one.I don’t think so, Rowbottom ducked and drove his head into Selwood. That won’t be called high contact. Henderson's kick to Miers for his first goal was probably not even ten meters yet mark was played. Close paid a free against Lloyd for a goal was clearly also an umpiring mistake. Two goals the Cats should not have got. Enjoyed the win and watched it again with a clear head today. Great win. Hickey is a total revelation. Seems to to really enjoy playing. Smiling all the time with a knee that would be giving him some pain.Comment

Free paid against Melican early that resulted in a goal was also rubbish. Yes, the free against Lloyd was a howler. Seemed to make contact entirely with the ball. Maybe a bit with Close's hand: which is totally legal. Close's other goal in that quarter, could easily have been a free to McCartin, because Hawkins put his hand in his back and pushed him under the ball. An action lauded by the commentary team as great team play.Henderson's kick to Miers for his first goal was probably not even ten meters yet mark was played. I think statistical imbalance, was pretty well all down to a poor first quarter. The rest of the game was more or less even, stats wise, and we won the other three quarters, largely due to greater forward half efficiency. The ABC also made the mistake of saying the umpire had called “play on, not 15” and they are meant to be accurate (I work for them).
It all comes back to Richo who got it half right.
If the umpire called play on as soon as it was kicked (which he did) then it was never going to be a mark.
End of the matter.
What do people make of that result? We were slaughtered statistically. In the second quarter I think we had 8 inside 50s for 5 goals 1. We only really got on top in Q3.
Getting some more players back (especially the Great Dane) would help against the Dees.
Was Mills playing back because of his defending or his leadership? I’m hoping return of Rampe would release him back to the midfield.
Can we all admit Hickey has exceeded our expectations by 1000%. Think the club needs to sell Wild Man Wigs.
According to the AFL, Cats benched Stanley as Hickey was destroying him and had to move Blicavs into the ruck
Hickey v Gawn should be quite the battle.
Maybe a Hickey fan club? The Tom Tom Club?Comment
