This article starts out like a fluff piece - they beat Brisbane...then they beat the Tigers...blah blah blah - but it then moves onto some interesting stuff, providing break downs by team of how they score and defend, and also highlighting individual players and how they stack up against players from other teams in launching attacks and winning attacking contests.

Yep the start isn't so good, but the analysis thereafter is super interesting - far better then the basic level of analysis found on most footy websites these days.

I wonder if we will name a side, or a squad tonight?

Given that Mills and Kennedy may need till the last minute to decide a squad is my thought...

Who every gets on the park on game day at game time. Bring your war face and start at the beginning. Not likely to want to play catch up footy in finals.

Giants will bring huge intensity. Be prepared and play footy, don't get dragged into unnecessary BS!

Let the scoreboard do the talking

        Go Swans

I don't think we are allowed to just name a squad. However, there is nothing in the rules that says we can't make late changes.

I wouldn't be surprised if we named Mills and Joey tonight, and had their potential replacements (Chad? Rowbottom? Campbell?) on stand by as emergencies..

Yeah have to name the actual team. I think they will name Mills and decide on the day if he is right to play. They would be putting Kennedy through a fitness test today so will know by the time teams named if he is right to go or not. He would have had to train at 100% for us to name him otherwise we won't risk and would give him the week to recover.

What I really enjoyed from that was Tom McCartin and his intercept mark .
Forget about your hardworking midfielders and flashy forwards this is the player that I think will become one of the great Swans over the next ten years.
Just 21 years old and still serving his apprenticeship and with so much upside still to be developed that I think that unless injury strikes he can potentially become a legend
I know it’s a big call but I think it’s not unfounded and I am confident he could even top Ted, Leo and Heath from the last twenty years as a starting point for this discussion.
                Let’s revisit this in 2026

Tom McCartin is a gun, no doubt. I could easily see him having a career comparable to Ted, Leo and Heath.

Incidentally, he was just voted by the Swans players as our most courageous this year. Hickey, Mills and Parker our nominees for MVP. Gulden best first year.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

Can people please stop mentioning the defensive guns of the past 20 years in Ted, Leo and Heath without also including Craig Bolton.

                    It's blasphemy. Thank you.

Sorry about that I usually only quote three examples when trying to make a point but for future defender references will be sure to expand that to four. ????

                          It's actually:
                          Ins Warner Bell
                          Outs Mills Campbell Fox (medisub)

                          - - - Updated - - -

Obviously not happy with the pressure from Campbell last week and bringing Bell back to provide more.

No Mills, no JPK time for some of the others to stand up. We need to get as close to break even as we can in the clearances.

Also McLean preferred over Reid, Melican over Fox, Bell over Campbell.

Horse said Bell “gives us some really hard, gut running which is going to be really important." I think we are going to try to outrun the Giants.

Campbell is quick but isn’t that player yet.
