    Martin fined for umpire contact

Actually I can. Martin's was more aggressive. Giants should appeal.
    Differences:
    1) Video footage is a lot harder to discern for Martin than Greene
    2) Martin seemed to be demonstrating to the umpire, Greene just seemed to push through Stevic

Giants aren’t appalling (pun probably intended) but the AFL should - Bachar Houli has set a precedent

I was on the money I reckon - saved himself a week by 'fessing up & apologising.

Had to laugh when I heard the dispute was coz Greene claimed that JMc had "dived" when (a) the replay clearly shows he made contact with McInerney's throat and (b) a quarter later he takes a dive himself - and Stevic falls for it!

Do you, in all honesty, when touching an umpire is forbidden, that Greene's is worse than Martin's?.
Since greene is potentially missing 3 finals, and Martin got a fine, I'd guess it must be judged a factor of, say, 10 times worse.

Martins had arguing, swearing, intentional contact, forceful contact, and repeated contact.

What was the swearing that Dusty did? Greene evidence specifically stated the F-bomb.

Dustry was attempting to demonstrate what had happened with him and Patrick Dangerfield. Despite how you personally interpret the Dusty footage, the tribunal judged the contact as careless rather than intentional.

The tribunal deemed Greene to have made intentional contact with Stevic in a manner that was insolent, contemptuous, aggressive, demonstrative and disrespectful.

Based on the tribunal reports (not your or my impression of the videos) …

So if Martins incident happened next round, in the current climate, a $1,500 fine would be sufficient?

Re Barry's issue with the comparison, they changed the rule at the end of 2018. Won't link to an article as it'll screw the thread, but that may explain some of the different treatment

Oddly Martin had already got in trouble for touching an umpire that same year.

It does seem a double standard.
Seriously.....Martin was demonstrating something to the umpire, not walking through him. He still shouldn't have touched the umpire but it's hardly the same as Toby's behaviour. You're flogging a dead horse.

                  Answer to first question YES!

                  Martins had
arguing - could you hear what he was saying over the commentary or crowd? I couldn't.
swearing - what did he say Barry? Can you lip read from that footage?
intentional contact - hmm yes - it cost him the $1500 ,
forceful contact - a touch on the arm. The umpire didn't seem to move unlike Stevic who was turned ,
repeated contact - could only see the one

Martins contact was also in the period of actual play, not some minutes later.

Straws Barry keep clutching at them.

And yes, Stevic doesn't like the Swans. The 2016 GF is all the evidence you need. Was it him or another umpire that didn't pay the Swans a free kick in three out of four quarters of that game?
Scott Jeffrey was the worst. It was his first and last grand final.

This video is a bit clearer.
                      May makes umpire contact

                      Fine? Or suspension?

Why are you obsessed with Greene, a GWS player? Why don't you go on another forum where you'll have more support?

I've been here a lot longer than you sunshine.

It's the inequality that's the issue. And we, non Victorian teams, are usually the victims. It may be Greene now, who is next?

What you walk past is what you accept.
