I think there is a good chance they will as well.

While I consider this is probably the poorest quality Giants side we have seen in the last 5 or 6 seasons (in terms of both personnel and game style), they have the right mix of players to worry the old age pensioners, who will be feeling the heat after another week 1 loss.

If the game was in Melbourne I would still expect the Cats to win relatively comfortably, but at a neutral venue (despite it being likely the crowd will have a pro-geelong nature to it - given there is simply not many giants fans well anywhere), it might be a fairly close thing. Key for the giants is to do what they did against us - open up an early lead and hold on for dear life.

Should the Cats lose, it will be interesting to see whether Scott gets any serious heat from the media. No one can doubt his ability to get everything right during the main part of the season - the Cats have been in premiership contention for most of the time he has been coach. But there really should be more silverware in the cupboard after such an extended period of consistency.

I never said that Nolie was incorrect Ludwig. Just noted that language is continually evolving - whether such evolution is 'good' or 'bad' is another question altogether.

It's not a matter of being right or wrong. There is an inherent conflict between the formal rules of grammar and the usage of ordinary language. RWO doesn't have formal rules about grammatical construction, so poorly written English, even when cringeworthy, is not off limits.

When one hears someone say “nothingk” instead of “nothing”, is that language evolution (as it happens a lot) or just bad English?

However, I do agree it is one thing to call out poor English/grammar by commentators on TV (Jobe Watson!!!) and something different altogether to call out fellow posters.

I don't think I have actually heard anyone ever say 'nothingk' - I must not be hanging out in the correct crowd to hear such comments

All I was simply suggesting is language, like footy, like most things in life, is evolving. In good ways and in bad ways.

If people want to make RWO a forum where correct grammar is the primary basis on which the quality of a post is judged, that is fine. But I am fairly certain we are not at that point - I think most people prefer to focus on discussing footy.

Hence, I fail to see the point of posts with no purpose bar representing a pure snipe, such as the one in question.
