The offer to Lloyd in part will be dependent on how Campbell, McInerney, Blakey and even Rankin progress. If some of that group (or all) are making a big impact, the club may not be compelled to offer any more than a 2 year contract. A rebuilding club on the other hand may be willing to offer 3-4 years plus coaching position on retirement a la Suns and Malceski. It would be tough to knock the later back..............

Lloyd is getting to the age where not many clubs, other than Geelong, are looking to make a long term commitment to a player. (He'll be 29 in Sept.). He's also good friends with Harry C. I think he'll stay if we make him a fair offer, which I expect us to do. It would be good to keep the core group of Rampe, Lloyd and Harry, together for as long as possible to anchor our defence, which they've been doing so well for a fair few years now.Comment

I would be very surprised if McInerney left - he seems so bonded with the group. However it was still pleasing to read him affirming his commitment to the club so strongly:
""Yeah definitely (keen to recommit)," McInerney said.
"I love it up here. I love the boys, I love the club and Sydney is a great place to live. We just go out there and we love having fun with each other. I'll be recommitting, yes.""All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Great to her he will recommit - I hope it is a long term contract in line with similar to what Heeney has (i.e. not just a couple of additional years). Broader salary cap management may dictate that not possible/desirable, but his key skill mix is very valuable."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Definitely a nightmare IF, no dream like qualities to that!

He also initimated Buddy will play on next year and what that might do with our Salary Cap considering another host of stars (including Papley) coming out of contract next year. Jordan Lewis speculated Buddy will play for $500k - $600k.Comment

Buddy made clear that as of now he wants to play on, in an interview immediately after his 1000 match. Was asked something like ‘does playing like this make you want to play on until you no longer can?’ (yes the question was convoluted) and Buddy said ‘Totally’.Comment
