Outstanding collection of Rowbottom at his best.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Fantastic stuff. He's so strong in the legs and very clever.....fully fit this season, we saw him at his best.

Wow! Just wow. Thanks for sharing.

Our future is in good hands: Mills, Chad & Rowy!

My sense is Campbell will also push ahead to the point of demanding a top22 spot

Now that BJ is moving into a few pre seasons and a base to match he will cause some headaches for selection.

He is highly skilled player and no doubt closed the gap on the key areas of defensive play and patterns expected to a top level.

3 players who probably werr not considered top22 at rd 1 last season really rose to the occasion Clarke, Fox, Reid and made it super tricky for an emerging player like BJ to jump in.

My hunch is that BJ is probably being thought of as a strong replacement Clarke roles ie defensive forward and or McInernys / stephens role on the wing / HBF if any of these 3 boys drop their game

Campbell is an obvious choice for we’re we can improve . Stagnated second year which is not uncommon. Needs to learn how to stay in games more , even in the reserves sort of floats in and out . We seen glimpses first year of why he was taken so early.

McDonald tracking well for a young tall . Look for him to be come more of a focal point next year . Club would be happy with we’re he is at

Sheldrick got a taste of it early but injuries effected. Put some real solid games in in the reserves to show what could lie ahead Would not surprise to see him have a breakout year next season if he can put in a full preseason

Roberts no fuss midfielder who also got a taste of it . Club sees a big future after extending his contract early

Gould really came on and made the VFL team of the year . Unlucky not to play seniors but the senior backline was pretty steady back end of the year .

HHK mid season pick up who as some real X factor and class . Kicked a bag in I think only his second game . Was also used across half back and looks composed. Full pre season next year will do him wonders . Still only slight so needs to put on some muscle .

Some of our younger players who I think could press for meaningful senior gigs next year . Pressure is going to be really on for spots

Agree with all of this. Campbell is likely to take Clarke's spot at season's start.

I also think Corey Warner could come into contention if he can become more consistent. He's shown skill, speed and ability to defend in spurts, but can go missing as well. Like his brother, he just might make a quantum leap in his second season.

Not a kid, but Aaron Francis will want to be in the mix for a spot in our 22.

Yes. Plenty of contenders for spots next year.

Our mids are intertwine if Francis makes his way into the back 6 rotation and Fox stays

You would think either Florent and or Blakey start to get a little more time in the mids or higher for Blakey?

It is interesting to think that Mills, Parker, Rowbottom, Warner will play most likely play the majority of minutes around the ball for many years to come unless a unique opportunity comes along for a serious mid to be traded in to the Swans?

Accept for injury it appears that it will be very hard for Sheldrick and Roberts to crack that in and around the ball midfield group. They are solid young guys who may not feature much till 2024 onwards bar injuries.

Especially considering we see Heeney, Paps and Gulden sneaking in minutes to speed up and change up our inside play when required......it just doesn't leave much opportunity accept for injury games / minutes.

The 4 on ball of Mills, Rowbottom, Parker, Warner is very competitive week in week out......we just need to be able to go that next level for a GF war combat intensity. Geelong showed how they could manage the bodies of their older guns and were able to have a very experienced yet elite team come the Finals series. Great recruitment and u may argue beyond elite player fitness management.

Our wings (outisde positions HFF, HBF and Wing) have huge competition in McInerney, Stephens, Campbell, Gulden, Cunningham, Florent, Blakey, Heeney and Hayward

I must admit though it just feels Blakey will take that next step to grab a JCameron / Bud type CHF roaming role....... if our backs keep lifting and we need more weighting of fire power upfront in 2023 and especially 2024.

I'm super intrigued re our drafting strategy in Nov this year.

Is there a player like Gulden that we suspect could be a walk into the snrs best 22ish?

                  What position would this be?

Or are we going for more sheldricks and Roberts who may need a few pre seasons? Ie that will be ready come the right time re our Cao vs ready for week in week out snrs?

Great analysis but reckon we leave Florent on back flank. Found his sweet spot.

Is their a cut off date?

When we watched us live in the final against Melbourne, Corey Warner seemed to know where to run to space anticipating the next move forward. He looks to have footy smarts, is quick and kicks well.

AG: I would like to see Gulden come into the midfield and centre bounces. He goes where the footy is at, and is clean with his disposal. We desperately need quick, clean clearances. He and Warner would be a good combo.

Shame Naismith never got a clear run, Ronke and Bell provided some depth but just weren’t part of our best 22 and I guess comes a point you to make way for the next crop to come through. Good luck to all
