All these changes over the last few decades being pushed by coaches for their own short term benefit under the guise of "evolving the game". Changes one after another in attempt to fix problems caused by previous changes.
So are you suggesting that Geelong's 19-23 ranked players will be better than Norf's 19-23 ranked players?

Bigger benches of course favour strong clubs, Geelong's 19-23 probably equate to Norf's 11-15, or even single digit players!

    The VFL is klutzville!

Haven't been online for a while.

Just wanted to test if there's any rumours about the Swans being interested in any delisted players? There seem to be some half decent ones floating about that could benefit from a change (Narkle, Stack, Stocker, Wallis)

Also interested to hear views on who would be a good fit. My two cents - boring and probably alligned with the Swans - is that none of them fit our gaps (back up KPF, KPD and ruck)

Not much being reported. In fact, we have still yet to announce the names of those who won't receive new contracts from us which is late compared to others.

I suspect none of those names you mention would be of great interest to us for the reasons you outline. We want to give some of our developing players a chance to thrive eg McDonald, Campbell, Gus, Roberts etc. I think our main focus is on drafting in young talent this time around rather than rejects.

I'd be fascinated to understand more about why Stack didn't prevail at Richmond. Based on his early burst of games, he had serious levels of talent. I know there were a couple of off field incidents a year or so back, but they weren't major. Has elite kicking skills, hard at it and could play both ends.

Several Richmond fans (on BF) have suggested his dedication to training isn't great, including coming back to pre-season out of shape and out of condition.

What about recruiting Hanners as our new VFL coach? He could play too!

A captain coach? Long time since I've heard of one of those, used to be a very common way for ex players to stretch their careers a year or two longer.

Based on R23, Hanners would be a starting 22 in the seniors! If he's over his injuries, only a modest contract, hmmm?

Has apparently asked about a one year deal but no cigar

I mean if it was him, I applaud his foresightedness, but it says a whole lot less about his footy smarts!

Have we ever had so many top 5 (or even top 10) picks on our list before, even in the days when we were cellar dwellers? Rewind 10 years and we had Macca (pick 5) and Gazza (pick 6) and maybe nobody else.

While that's kinda exciting, what's much more exciting is that we have so many players who were taken much later and who are among our best players: Chad, RB, Parker, Rampe, Lloyd, Papley etc etc.
Reckon this post deserves more love - I certainly can't recall a time when we had this much top end talent (at least as rated by the draft) on our list. It's quite extraordinary really. That said, I don't know who our #3 is? Is that where they bid for Heeney?

Pick 3 was Mills, 4 Logan, 5 Stephens, 6 Campbell from Memory. Who is 1 and 2?

No 1 would be Paddy Mac.

Campbell would be a no. 5, not 6. Bud was also a pick 5.

                              The no.6 pick was Francis.

I am racking my brain to think who was a no. 2.
