We have a solid 22 and some blokes missing out

No point grabbing list cloggers, if we can trade up for a higher pick or someone that fistllts i to the 22 then great but Jackson Nelson will struggle to get a kick ig he played 3 grades lower, Tarryn thomas is overrated.

Go to the draft if thats all thats on offer.

I did like francis, didnt realise how long he was in the system

It seems a bit weird that we are keen to let Melican go for more opportunities but bring in a similar position/sized/aged player who will be in the same situation. If Melican can't find another home we will have 2 players plus Gould fighting for a spot in the team. Some of the 'experts' are speaking as though Aaron Francis coming to us is a done deal, almost. It must mean that we see more upside or versatility in Francis than we do in Melican which is a bit sad for Melican!

I suspect it's a recognition by the Swans (and the Bombers) that both players may benefit from a change of scenery and a chance to redefine themselves at a new club. It's entirely possible that both will spend a couple of years at their new club and then be delisted, but that doesn't mean a change won't be good for them.

I think Gould needs to be given a run of games to assess if he can make it at AFL level. 3 years should be enough in the ressies and next year we need to find out for sure. We also need depth to cover injuries which are inevitable over a long season. Hence would prefer Melican to stay if possible, though he seems to get injured quite a bit.

Is Devon Roberston from the Lions worth a look? The Lions need picks to get the Dunkley deal over the line. He has always impressed me in the games he has played and was very highly rated in the u18's. Maybe we could offer our second pick and swap 2nd round picks to get us a better 2nd round pick

              a) West Coast are already expressing an interest in him
              b) Would he address an area of need on the list? He looks like a reasonable player, albeit not especially quick or skilled by foot. Who would you replace from our best 22 (or GF team as proxy for best 22) to accommodate him in the senior side?

He's unlikely to want to move from being depth at the Lions to depth at another club. West Coast can probably almost guarantee he'd be a starter for them. They already have a poor midfield group and now Redden has retired.

Clarke deserved it and I’m glad Gould has another year. With his natural assets, if he gets it right, he could be super valuable. We’ve put three years of development into him and his VFL form suggests he took strides this year. It’s over to him now.

That's good, I quite like both of them, since they've both shown plenty of determination. Clarke for forcing his way back into the side and adapting to a new role, when he was looking like a probable delist. Gould for continually playing very good football in the VFL, when it must've been frustrating for him not getting a debut.

According to what Gardiner said the other day, the remaining unsigned players are Cunningham, who is considering the club's offered contract, and the probably nervous Ronke, Bell and Naismith, who the club hasn't decided whether to offer contracts or not.

Who does that leave. Cunningham, Ronke, Bell and Naismith. Cunningham has a contract in front of him. Wicks supposedly needs a promotion to the senior list plus Francis possibly coming in. Say three to draft. Numbers are looking very tight unless someone is traded out or we reduce the size of our Senior list.

I wouldn't like to lose Harry but I think he is too good to be playing reserves, which is where he may sit waiting for injuries to the 1st 22.

Impressed by Gould being happy to stay on. Says a lot about the club. Differs greatly in comparison to GWS where they are lining up to leave.

I'm a Cunningham game fan so I hope he stays. He is definitely capable of breaking back into the senior side. He is obviously weighing up potential offers from elsewhere. Fingers crossed.

                                Great news!

Clarke demonstrates the value of hard work and selflessness.

Gould demonstrates patience, improvement in fitness and leadership. Hearing him in the reserves he is a big talker.
