Can’t see any way the BOC can make it, unfortunately.

Speaking of setting examples, is Taylor a positive?
I know he's getting the ball, but trying to con umpires, silly hotdog plays - it's a bit irritating.Comment

We have the most useless VFL team in the comp. No one is capable of winning a contested ball. O'riordan is OK but I would get rid of the rest. Need to start again.Comment

Wouldn't read too much into that result. With the large imbalance in the number of listed players, the margin was around what I expected. Amartey being a late withdrawal was a big loss, as it meant that for much of the game, we didn't really have a key forward. And there was a fair few players having to play out of their preferred positions. All of which made cohesive ball movement difficult.Comment

Sheather had some good moments and a decent game over all.
There was definitely no wind factor, although you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise until the last quarter. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

RWO - settle a debate for me.
Goods Snr (RWO lurker) cheers on the Swans reserves and gets upset if they lose or are particularly inconsistent - like the weekend. He can’t understand Laidler being the coach and does not see what he brings to the coaching table.
I think Longmire and co could not care less about the collective result of the reserves team. They could lose by 100 points, but if Mellican kept his opponent scoreless or if Amartey kicks 5 - that’s a great result. I think he wants a good standard of competition to help younger players learn and develop, but in the short term it’s really only about 6 or so individuals pushing for a senior elevation.
Side note:
Regarding Laidler, it’s a great result for him professionally. It’s a position that would look great on a coaching CV from a well respected club. I’d bet he’s not in great money and the Swans would prefer to use the available cap space for the coaches at the senior level.
For those going on about reserve reports, have a look Laidler an hour after the reserves game. He is on the bench working at the seniors game. I can’t imagine too many senior VFL coaches doing that. Save your hostility for the swans marketing!
