    Wonderful, wonderful game.

Kudos to Garry Lyon for the level of enthusiasm and excitement he conveyed immediately after the game about the Swans and their performance, after watching his beloved side go down. It was a level of professionalism (almost) up there with noted Geelong fan Anthony Hudson's excitement with the great Nick Davis' heroics.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I take this back. Watching the replay now, it's clearly McInerney for most of the night.

Stevic actively looking for reasons to pay a free to Melbourne to keep them in it!

Apologies about putting a dampener on this thread but is there a chance that the team has played it's "GF" last night such were the celebrations?
I am thinking the week off will help everyone reset properly and Horse will maintain the focus.

I mentioned drinking their own bathwater earlier, but this club and group is far to focused to allow that to happen. The game review highlighting errors will focus everyone again.

Horse addressing them straight after the game. They weren’t over celebrating, he was already prepping them for the task ahead.

A very good question, from memory I think that level of excitement is relatively normal for teams winning a Qualifying Final because it is such a huge build up and then boost for your chances to get a chance to go straight through to hosting a Preliminary Final.

Always a risk with any team.

But Longmire is a master coach. He will know the need for the boys to celebrate the win, but then hit reset and go again. We have a great record in prelims under him after winning week 1 for a reason.

The hard work is only just beginning - but this team is hungry. They won't be satisfied unless we lift the Cup from here.

Overconfidence is a bigger risk than a huge let down in a fortnight in my opinion.

I hope not but I can forgive you for that train of thought.

The holding the ball free kicks were very odd against us. Like the one against Gulden in front of goal. The player must have a chance to get rid of the ball in an effective manner. Where was his chance? Anyhow should not complain as Melbourne only received 5 more free kicks than us, and thats really good considering the past umpiring history.

One of the things Longmire talked about at his press conference was last year's finals loss to GWS and it was a missed opportunity. It clearly still burns him (quoted our +20 inside 50 differential off the bat) and I'm confident he will relay to the players not to let this chance slip.

I have actually noticed the last month or so that Longmire can actually smile . I reckon it’s been a directive from the coaching group to engage more with the players and celebrate a little whilst keeping it in check , ride the wave a bit. A little bit like Melbourne and Bulldogs done last year . The younger group are such tight knit group and have every right to celebrate a bit . It’s not everyday you win your way to a prelim. Great to see , celebrate the moment for what it is . Then knuckle down for what lies ahead as it won’t get any easier.

I must confess that holding the ball decisions and non-decisions have always been a grey are for me, swans make a lot of tackles that are un rewarded, the double tackle in the third quarter last night on Neal-Bullen was a case in point. Even the Melbourne based commentators thought he took the tackle on.
