Just bonkers.
The Saints are now saying they did the review to see whether they had a genuine plan to get to a flag, or were stuck in no-man's land, and it came back as the latter.
Well, that's not just the coach, but the head of football. But they just promoted the head of football to CEO, who's now sacked the coach.

It was Lethlean who was instrumental in getting Hanners to the Saints - he and Hanners' dad were long-time mates. It was possibly a reasonable trade to make (and certainly did us a favour, salary cap wise) but I never came close to understanding why they felt the need to tack several more years onto the end of his decent-money contract.
And the bloke they are getting in to be the new head of football is the guy in charge at Collingwood (as head of football) when they signed Grundy to the mammoth deal that they've now decided they don't want, and who oversaw the fire-sale of Treloar and others for salary cap reasons (maybe partly arising from that Grundy contract).Comment

Speculation that, I suspect, is far off target and unwarranted. The review of the Hawthorn operations has barely even begun. And nothing that has been made public indicates Ratten was involved in the alleged poor treatment of certain players.Comment

Brett Ratten gets an A++ from me and is the winner of Trade Week. He gets his contract extended through 2024, then, instead of actually having to work, gets 2 years paid vacation without the stress of having to coach a dysfunctional team. At the end of 2024 he gets an assistant coach job and goes on to live happily ever after.
Geelong win this year's Trade Week Dracula Award for sucking the life blood out of expansion clubs. Richmond come in second; they had a gluttonous drink, but at least they left a big tip.Comment

Hopefully, for Ratten he is not involved, but its a fact that he was an assistant at Hawthorn so its not out of the question. Given the sudden and unusual timing of the sacking, people will ask these types of questions. He seems a very decent guy so hopefully you are correct.Comment

You know the Saints will go for Ross Lyon or Beveridge, because their lunatic losers.
I actually have no beef with them, as they are highly irrelevant as a footy club, and I hope they go in another direction.
But it's the Saints, so they will do the short-term, dumb thing.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

On the contrary Barry. I think they love the expansion clubs!Comment

The Saints have form on this. Grant Thomas said Blight had to go then took the job himself. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

I keep saying it, we follow a wonderful club!

Disqualify. You obviously did not read the @@@@e about him from the Banking Royal Commission. Robbing, yes stealing, money from bank customers in the form of fees that didn't exist or were illegal. He could very easily have landed in gaol. Probably should have.? He created one of the biggest financial scams in the history of banking. All at the expense of NAB customers.
