Waiting in MCC queue with only 20 mins to go after waiting since 2.30 am.
The atmosphere is very tense with roughly equal numbers of cats and swans.
The general opinion seems to favour the cats.
Personally I am very nervous. I believe our last game may have been too combative compared to Geelong. Moreover the injury to Reid may be pivotal.
I remain hopeful but my record 2/6.

The dropping of Logan has parallels with other controversial omissions from Grand Finals - Peter Cripps Hawthorn, Derek Kickett Essendon. Both of those teams lost. Bad karma.

1. In 2014 we beat North in the Preliminary Final by 71 points, then got smashed in the Grand Final
2. In 2021 the Dogs beat Port in the Preliminary Final by 71 points, then got smashed in the Grand Final
3. This year the Cats beat the Lions in the Preliminary Final by......71 points

The only three times this century we have finished third on the ladder was in 2005, 2012 and ....2022.

In 2012 coming third, we upset an interstate team, (The Crows) away from home in the Qualifying Final. We went on to host and beat Collingwood in the Preliminary Final, (with a spectacular run away goal from Lewis Jetta). We were about $2.45 underdogs to beat Hawthorn in the Grand Final.

In 2022 coming third, we upset an interstate team, (The Dees) away from home in the Qualifying Final. We went on to host and beat Collingwood in the Preliminary Final, (with a spectacular run away goal from Justin McInterney) We are about $2.45 underdogs to beat Geelong in the Grand Final.

The three Grand Final losses this century (2006, 2014, and 2016), we won our Preliminary Finals very easily on the Friday night, whilst our eventually successful victors, (West Coast, Hawthorn and Dogs respectively), all had thriller nail biting wins in their Saturday Preliminary Finals. This year Geelong wins their Preliminary Final on a Friday night cater, whilst we win ours in a thriller on the Saturday.

After reading it I feel more optimistic that Swans can beat the Cats. The article touched on the key to defeating Cats is a high pressure defence which the Swans have in spades; Dane Rampe has held their key player Jeremy Cameron goalless in the past; and Swans needs a hard tag on their influential half-back Tom Stewart.

I was in the concrete section about 6 rows from the glass then when they made us get rid of chairs,etc. I ended up about 10 people from the glass. When the dropped the chains about 12 people. A poor choice of turnstile meant I had to detour around the escalator before getting my seat on level 2.

I've changed my tune on Reid as it is looking and sounding a lot more likely that he's actually going to play which I thought was no chance!

My understanding of Reid's injury was it was more of a tight muscle than a damaged one.

May, admittedly, be more due to knocking off some 10% beer as well as, based on the little bottles in the recycling, a few too many scotch and drys whilst engaging in some kitchen dancing last night.

Sydney has not lost to a top four side this year (4-0). Geelong's only loss was when we beat them handily in round 3 (Buddy's 1000th).

In 2012, we beat every other top 4 side to win the premiership (including Collingwood whom we had not beaten for seven years). If we beat Geelong in the Grand Final, we will repeat that record of beating the other top 4 sides to claim the premiership.
