We were super keen to try and get up the order this year , why not target next year instead . Already looking like a deep pool for next year we’re this year it drops off pretty quickly according to the experts.

It’s a pretty risky strategy chucking out two first rounders in the hope the chosen club finishes bottom 4.

I’d only think Hawks and Weagles are safe bets. Would either of them really do it given they are likely to finish bottom two?

I can see us moving one first rounder into next year if the right offer comes along.

Name the Essendon list cloggers we have recruited since Ted....because I can't think of any.....besides the above mentioned Edwards.

For what it's worth, two phantom drafts out today.

The Hun has us taking Weddle and Barnett with our first two (they only did top 30), and Chris Doerre at ESPN has us taking Ed Allen, Lewis Hayes and Joe Richards with our three picks.

In other words, Beatson has once again given them nothing . . .

Elijah Taylor has nominated for the Draft. Interesting to see if anyone's willing to give him a chance.

Weddle with our pick 14! Interesting. Exactly the surprising sort of choice we might venture.

Chris Doerre doesn't have a clue about who we'll take - he's just guessing based on who he rates and who he would take with our list needs. That's not a knock on Chris Doerre by the way - he is a super-dedicated follower of potential draftees - just a reflection that he doesn't have connections on the inside (and prides himself on his independent take). That's also like other mock drafts done by people who follow stuff on-field more than have connections (i.e. most of them). The exceptions are Cal Twomey and others done by journalists - no idea about the Hun but I imagine they have plenty of inside contacts - I don't know how much they invest into trying to get an accurate phantom draft.

Weddle (Rampe like defender) and Barnett (promising ruckman) certainly seem to address list needs!

Rookie me central has us taking Ed Allen and Brayden George as our first two picks . Would be pretty happy with those selections

Not keen on George due to knee recon and second knee issue

If.....there is a comparable injury free option

Coming back from recons is hard vs a clean slate injury free comparable talent

Worth a punt I reckon was slated as top 5 before he done his knee . It’s a supposed shallow draft but I think that’s more these boys have missed so much footy more than anything . I’ll back our recruiters in to find a hidden gem .

Weddle sounds a bit like Gould, who I thought was our next Rampe like defender (after Fox of course).
Is that really a particularly urgent need?

                          I'd take 1 from column A and 1 from column B.

Allen and Barnett seems the best combo.

Rumours continue to float around that we are interested in trading one of our 1st rounders. I wonder what the reason might be. It may be that we don't want to crowd out the current list of prospects, in that we can't create enough regular AFL team spots to carry many more talented players, so we defer a pick to next year. Or we just may not rate our part of the draft, although it looks fairly typical to me.

I'll be happy with most options in the draft, I'm just eager to know who they'll be. I place my faith in our recruiters to choose well. I think between KB and Dalrymple (together with Chris Keane and Ross Monaghan) combined we have the best in the business. There are a few that will excite me and a couple that I'll be mildly disappointed but mostly I'm just going to be excited to see who we get and what they do next!

Simon Dalrymple confirms Swans interest in Weddle and Barnett!

Cowan and George are also “firmly in the frame” whatever that means?
