We won the draft because we took control of the clock and wouldn't let go.

Btw this is what the Hun has to say about our new draftee:

      No Cookies | Herald Sun

one of the most creative players in this year's draft club. In 2022, Konstanty showed his versatility to be more than just a small forward as he has pushed into more of a midfield role with the Power in the NAB League this year.

So we had picks 14 and 17 but we got a small forward (like we need another one) with pick 20. No one will convince me that tonight was anything but a complete disaster.

GWS BF board are fuming LOL

They had a stunning draft hand after trade period but trading up to get Cadman when they probably didn't need to trade up to pick 1, then being taken to the cleaners by KB tonight has left them with little to show for Taranto and Hopper trades.

GWS wanted Konstanty as well - nice one KB

Remember cruiser that you build a team over years, not just one draft. We're clearly planning something for next year plus we've got two more picks to come this year, could be a Parker or Goodes again at pick 42

He (well his team) really was the star of the show tonight.

FWIW, the main bloke from rookie.me central is a GWS fan and he absolutely thinks the Swans nailed it and is terribly disappointed that we got Konstanty in front of them. Of course, we won’t know how well we have done fo pr years but there are always melts after draft night.

Next yrs swapped are basically second round all the talent will be gone. Obviously dont understand the pick swap but if u have to do it why not take allen or weddle who I think were both available wheit was our turn. Dont think anybody could say a good night. Allen could possible freed up have freed up Errol. Not looking forward to 2023 if this is how we are behaving. Forget about playing pay backs Dawson etc were in the past. WE need to look to the future. I think maybe we need changes to our recruiting staff. Beatson getting to old for the modern game and I dont know where Dalrymple got his experience from. The dogs and he got he "ar"Good night
Meh why doesn't the club just contract out to RWO to do their trading.

The club gets its right far more often than we get it wrong. To make the grand final this year given where we at in the rebuild says a lot.

RWO is celebrating sabotage and spite, not the quality players we should have drafted with picks 14 and 17. Sigh.

Ah well - why do we watch footy. You already know in advance that tonight was a dud, so why bother....

Football is theatre at its core - why shouldn't drafting players be any different. Actions are taken to maximise the value we get out of who we pick - obviously they value the 2023 draft highly or don't rate this year's talent.

And if we screw a couple of other clubs over and disrupt their plans, how is that a bad thing in a competitive sport?

I can't believe we didn't take Weddle or at least Allan with pick 18. So much for taking the next best player! I have nothing against Konstanty but seems like we will have a continuation of Rampe and Fox with a bit of help from Errol looking after the Hawkins and Kings etc. for another couple of years. Perhaps we are expecting Francis or Gould to take over, and there's always Melican. Or is there a young Academy player who has similar talent and attributes to Weddle?

What we need now is for GWS, the Bulldogs or West Coast to bid on Davey Jr so the Bombers have to accept and absorb their pick ahead of ours! That would be a brilliant start to tomorrow night! Lol.
