Heart breaking and disappointing, but some of the posts on here.

Two years ago, we were sitting on the bottom of the ladder. On the usual trajectory, we’d be trying to qualify for finals this year. We got there very early.

And some of the gaps on our list - midfield depth and mix, a long term partner for Logan, etc got exposed today. But we also know we have some more terrific talent underneath, some young blokes like Chad showed a lot today, and we’ve got a good draft hand.

Today was tough, and we will need to be honest about where we’ve still got to strengthen our side, but we will be back.

Wonderful to see some people accept embarrassment and humiliation so well, lets give them a merit badge for participating!

Not sure where we go from here, do we ride the improvement from Mills Warner Rowbottom and hopefully get some input from Sheldrick next year or look at boosting it with trading someone in (no idea who is available)
I think we need to try Amartey and Gould as ruck rovers. They are up to it and provide the physical strength we need.Importing a good mid wouldn't hurt either.

The prelim was a good indicator of the grand final. We carried on the form of the last quarter. We were cooked.

I'll give you 2016. That was a disgrace.

I hope the flight tickets are cancelled and they have to walk home.

Well that sucked...but if we are honest...are we all really surprised? This team is very young and show flashes of brilliance. But then lays an egg like the second games vs Essendon and St. Kilda. I am still optimistic... I believe this team will be competitive for the next five years...need to add a couple of key pieces. Geelong was the Yankees of the AFL...but they are also getting older. That said...Longmire is subject to criticism. He is a solid coach but he is 1 for 4 in the big dance. The one win was not exactly dominant. 2016 was fixed (yes, I do believe that) but this is not the first time the Swans have looked unprepared for the final game. At least they were underdogs this time (unlike 2014).

Next year the big story will be Lance Franklin's final dance... and the league will want that story to win. Call me jaded but I have too much personal history in the sports / entertainment world not to be jaded. Very interested to see if they make a big trade (considering they got fined big time for COVID). I don't believe this team is "wrecked"... hopefully the pain lingers and motivates them. 2023 may very well be our year!

The Swans have had a great year, exceeding everyone's expectations. We finished the season with a flurry and have given the fans a lot of pleasure and so much to look forward to in the future. I don't see any reason to get down on the players or the coaches.

The best team won today, and they were the best team by a long way. Isn't that the way it's supposed to be? We are a young team and we will just have to improve if we want to win premierships.

At least we go into next season not having to worry about a premiership hangover!

The most pathetic performance by any Swans side except 2014. I think the young guys were intimidated. But what was worse was the lack of leadership by out older players. Starting with Swam Reid declaring himself fit.

Longmire should have erred on the side of caution and played Logan. Amartey would have been a better option then McLean. But the problem was in the midfield where we were destroyed.

About the coaching. Longmire was outcoached by Scott, who is not the most strategic coach about. About time for him to go

                          They are not!

Sydney performed in an insipid and embarrassing manner in a GF, again!

We did nothing last time this happened, so lets do nothing again because that will fix it! Changes need to be made!
I agree. Disgraceful effort that will scare us for years to come. I think we will struggle next year and be in the bottom eight. Our Best player was Robbie Fox who was delisted at one stage early in the year. Geelong were the older side but we could not outrun them out jump them out tackle them. We looked like a bunch of old men out there.

He will be replacing Buddy and will be getting a MUCH bigger role next year.

We knew we were one or 2 years away if we’re being honest. Thought we might jag a win today if we didn’t let them get a jump. They got a jump. And then a few more. We were never in it, unfortunately.

Gotta try to take on the positives.

We made the GF. We played our GF last week (& 2 weeks before).

We’ve built a group that’s gonna be up there for the next 10 years.

                              We’ve got Melbourne’s 1st pick.

We knocked the pies out. By a point!!

The joke on us (& everyone else) is that Geelong can still be in a salary cap position to pilfer more players. Not sure if the AFL will ever do anything about it.
