It doesn't work if your personnel are not pack markers and none were.

It most certainly is not verse as verse is writing with metrical rhythm typically rhyming. Or you can be well versed, which actually refers to the reading of such verse but came be used to mean well practiced.

Swans versus Carlton, Swans vie with Carlton.

"Versus" is Latin for "against" or "opposed to".

The article actually said that Ladham was out with a calf injury which forced Lachlan McAndrew to face up against Lions tall Oscar McInerney. The mismatch was apparent as the Lions got on top...
It was badly written but I think was implying that the mismatch was more apparent after the half time break and was explaining it due to the absence of Ladhams.
It didn't actually imply Ladham's played at all

I think I saw a reply on the Swans Twitter stating that no official stats would be released for the game. Seems a little odd, maybe they have some internally? Or maybe just not worth the effort given the nature of the game.

I enjoyed the first half, they seemed to check out after that. A good experience for McAndrew. Not much else to add.

I should know by now not to read anything into a Swans pre-season game - it's still annoying when the other side goes better though! I remember going to a NAB cup game versus the Giants out at Rooty Hill years ago, which the Giants won, where there was an eastern European lady behind me berating the team no end. "Calm down mum!" said her son. "I came here to win!" she retorted. Classic stuff.

If you keep paying attention you may notice that language keeps evolving. Plenty of things that were errors yesteryear become ridgy-didge with the passing of time. I don't like 'versing' either but I think it's made it into the lexicon and while it's still ugly I don't think it's incorrect any longer. Personally I haven't gotten used to people talking about thing impacting other things (rather than impacting oo other things). I would focus on the battles you still have a chance of winning - like the appropriate use of apostrophes, if I were you.

I don't mind the players getting paid. I just don't know what to do about this box of XXXL socks that I was planning to donate to the club.

I got confused with the unconventional use of periods and commas in this post. And maybe e.g. would have been better than i.e. in this case.

It’s the equivalent of 2c. Spring is still 3 and a bit weeks away (it starts here on March 20) and it’s due to snow this week.

I’m going to keep watching and keep posting from afar. There’s no game that’s as good as the AFL.

Not sure we’re going to make it to the last weekend in September, but if we do … I’ll need to find a way to be there

I believe the phrase "two cents' worth" is actually a(n American) bastardisation of the original British phrase "two pennies' worth". So maybe honour the original, and stick with 2p?

And Americans sometimes call cents pennies. It's a funny old world.

I was encouraged by Justin McInerney's performance. Hoping he goes to next level this season as i thought he was below his par last season for whatever reason (injury)? Jared Crouch appears to be a big fan.

Rowbottom's performance also impressed me as he looked hungry with increased confidence.

I was hoping Logan McDonald to be more influential but delivery into the forward line wasn't crash hot for most part & he was more involved in play further up the ground in the 2nd half. Early days.

Seems like Campbell will be persisted being played in defence.Hoping he gets transitioned into the midfield this year as I can see him being damaging with his penetrating kicks. Is his tank still the issue as some were hinting last season?

I realise that language evolves over time. Just look at the original meanings of “terrific”, or “fabulous” or “fantastic”. But two I cannot have is the use of “literally” to mean metaphorically, or worst of all, the use of “bad” as a synonym for “mistake”. The latter is not evolution of the language but a pretentious attention-seeking invention.
