Well, the coaches thought Stoddart edged out Stephens in performance for the game. So saying that I preferred Stoddart to Stephens is not that farfetched.

      4 Will Fordham (FRA)
      4 Dylan Stephens (SS)
      4 Jackson Voss (FRA)
      2 Josh Butland (FRA)
      1 Trent Mynott (FRA)

Which seems quite an odd distribution, with two players getting five votes from one coach and none from the other.

I also noticed that Barry O'Connor was voted BOG for the Giants VFL side on the weekend. When I watched a small bit of their game a few weeks ago, they seemed to be trying him as a big bodied midfielder. Good luck to him, I guess, but I hope it doesn't come back to bite us too much.
I was not too happy when we let BOC go. We could sure do with him in the team now. I how it does not turn into a Swans mistake.

One coach (ours?) gave Stephens 4 votes.

Stoddart got given 3 by one coach and 2 by the other.

Given other votes, I think Frankston have no votes to our side at all.

So the voting is not really a good reflection of player impact on the day, given it seems our 5 and 4 votes were not added to by the other side.

Doesn’t mean your preference is any less valid, just that the votes is not good supporting data.

VFL Team: Wicks returns to face Williamstown

Although not mentioned in the blurb heralding the return of Wicks, a scan of the team list shows that Mitchell is also slated to return. Maybe they think fans won't notice he was ever missing.

Good opportunity to get a close look at our supposed mid-season draft target Oscar McDonald. Plus to see how McAndrew fares against a good ruck in Downie.

Amusing comment on Mitchell there Liz, but true! A player each week must be on one of three lists, Seniors, VFL or Injury

MSD target - Oscar McDonald will be in the frame if we think the season is salvageable but, if there's internal thoughts, due to our ongoing injury list, that the season is done we'll pick a player for the future.

We'd want good wins today over Freo and next week over Norf to still be in finals contention. We're currently 13th with shot %

Nice heads-up play and long kick into from Stephens to set up that goal.

                    McAndrew and Shipley our best.

Not really coming off for Stephens or Sheldrick.

Best of the first year players probably Edwards.

I quite liked how Edwards was throwing his weight around. I turned it on late, is Sheather the sub for the later game?

Sheldrick doesn't have any trouble finding it, but he's an absolute butcher even at VFL level.

Who is this guy called Howard? Never heard of him but he looks like he can really play.

Swans VFL playing OK today for a change. Owen gets a free kick from 35 m out and cannot make the distance. We need a serious kicking coach for both seniors and reserves.

I’ve liked the look of Howard too. Caused me to look up his name on the team list. Has a bit of composure lacking in so many others.

The loss of Shipley just before quarter time hasn’t helped but given there’s no-one in the team capable of even hitting a short hit-up 15m kick - anywhere on the ground, not just into the forward line - it’s going to be an uphill battle.

If Sheather has genuine bone bruising, I’d be surprised he was playing. But this is the AFL, and yesterday’s bone bruising is tomorrow’s sub, and vice versa.
