Give Sheldrick 4 weeks in the Seniors because there is nothing else here at the moment. May as well test him in the level above - for an extended period - as he is a step above the Reserves.

McAndrew doing well against Downie, see if he can stay strong in the final term. Wicks discipline hasn't improved, Warner and Stephens can get the ball but kicking a problem (lack of options or execution?) - that comment could apply to a few.

This has got to be the worst team in memory to put on the Swans' colours. I have never seen a team more disorganised or with poorer skills. Lucky we have 3 first round picks in the side.

Turelove has to be sacked, immediately. You can't train a team to play this badly. Their training must involve watching free range chook farm docos.

I am worried about our reserves too. None of the young guys are coming on. This is a development squad so the coach is supposed to develop players to 0lay AFL level. He doesn't seem to be capable of doing this.

I am very concerned that players who we picked quite high in the draft are only getting single figure disposals. This is incredibly worrying. The VFL Squad members skills seem to have deteriorated this year too.

11 scoring shots is diabolical. This side would be relegated if there was a relegation. They are hopelessly last on the VFL Ladder after today. They are a disgrace to the jumper. The coach should be sacked immediately. This is the worst reserves side I have seen in years. How do you go from a finals side to bottom I less than 1 year?

I gave up at halftime to walk a lap of Centennial Park before the senior game. Sounds like it was a good choice.

Round 8 - 4 goals
Round 7- 7 goals
round 5 - 9 goals

We have a season high of 12.

Something has to give here. Players - maybe apart from Sheldrick - are not developing. What is the focus of the rest of the season?

I agree. They are a embarrassment to even watch. I saw Melican take a few marks but no one else. Mcandrew, Sheldrick, Stevens and maybe Howard were OK. The rest remind me of watching your local park footballers.

crackedactor01 - I agree about local players - it would not have surprised me to see cars parked around the ground.

I think they should play Melican in the seniors - not so much on form but need. If he doesn't work out then let him go at the end of the Season.

Truslove did not coach GWS to finals as far as I know.

All the comments about a park footy team are spot on.

We would not beat a park footy team at this rate.

None of the draftees are developing at all. He is even playing thrm out of position. I think that is due to desparation due tí injuries. But in stead of getting desperate get smart. Desperate people make desperate mistakes and this is a huge problem with this team.

I think we need Kennelly back. He was really good.I could not understand him being let go during COVID. Laidler seemed to lack imagination but at least under him the team was solid.

With so few draftees developing this leaves the Senior coaches with terrible problems. What do they do in the case of injuries? The depth for the likes of Stephens and McInerney is simply not there because they are not developing. The only players developing are players who had a year under Laidler: Corey, Hall-Khan and Rankin. Everyone else is in a very bad phase development wise.

If someone is not working out then get someone else. Simple really. I mean, we have wonderful coaches at Academy Level.

I think the main problem today was the lack of a key forward. Most attacks were easily repelled by bigger defenders, while smaller forwards find it hard to get going, if the ball's not coming to ground. That could possibly be countered if the team was running hard into space, but this team is lacking confidence, so running tends to suffer. Which is a vicious circle, because a lack of run means that it's harder to hit targets.

Another problem is the lack of experienced leadership. This is a very young side and it seemed to me that they needed some older players to keep driving them on, or even just improving their positioning. And at times there seemed like a lack of talk, since players got run down, but probably wouldn't have, if somebody had shouted, "man on!" Also the loss of Shipley didn't help, as lately his been providing plenty of assistance to our only genuine inside mid, Sheldrick.

Which brings me to a few positives. Sheldrick was probably our best. Certainly got plenty of ball, but missed too many kicks to say it was a great game. In the ruck, McAndrew finished in front of Downie, who's the current VFL ruckman of the year. Although for his development, I'd probably like to see him play more time as a key forward. Which would give Owen a bit more of a chance in the ruck. Stephens and Warner looked dangerous at times, but probably should have been more consistently involved. Stephens seemed to be playing half back flank for the later part of the game. In defence, Rankin was pretty good, while Edwards took some strong marks and made a few good spoils. Wicks was lively in his return, but still seems to be on the angry pills; which wasn't helpful.

Anyway, hope we can get a few players back, gain a bit of confidence and cohesion, and generally make watching these games less of a chore.
