    707 with a little wasp sting ????????????

Mate I must admit I never feel like that against other teams

It is a brutal system to succeed in the AFL and I honestly love that people have a passion to invest in whether it be a team like the Swans or others

Nice work KB, in summary, currently it's picks 19 and 38 plus Vickery for pick 18

I like how Hawks are tracking this season, long may it continue - go Roos!
It also seems quite negligent by the Hawthorn staff. I mean, they'd already got rid of plenty of experienced players, so there was every likelihood of this year's picks being on the more valuable end of the scale.

One to them and 2 to us would be a good outcome for us - and not do much for their rebuild

I can understand Hawthorn “tanking” for draft picks, but not when we’ve got 2 out of their top 3?

          Makes no sense …

Perhaps Sam Mitchell is a red and white double agent?

Weddle would have to turn out to be some sort of player for them to justify that trade, particularly given their current plight. Both their List Management and Draft strategies will come under severe scrutiny. They'll also be compared with the Roos under Clarkson.

There was a discussion on SEN, instigated primarily by Kane Cornes, that Ben King should be looking to leave GC if they continue to flounder and miss finals.

Firstly, Kane Cornes has been incredibly effective in promoting his own career with his confrontational style. It says something about the kind of personalities the media are looking for. I used to find him annoying, but I understand the game. Cornes has gone from nobody to perhaps the most in demand AFL media personality.

Back to the specific issue. I don't think it's helpful to the competition when media outlets continue to encourage players from weak clubs to leave those clubs for clubs with better chances at finals footy. The reason the GC are not making progress is that many of their best players leave for other clubs every year. This is not what the AFL intended with the expansion of the league, and they should do something about it.

I probably write a couple of post a year on this, but nothing ever changes. If anything, the league is drifting toward becoming less competitive as time rolls on. I though there was a Competition Committee at the AFL. What are they doing?

Not sure exactly how, but if we really want to have an even competition then a new club like GC must be able to retain their best players, otherwise they are merely making up the numbers. At least GWS has had a taste of finals and had strong teams that were hard to beat. Maybe the bottom 4 clubs should be protected by not allowing top 8 clubs raiding their players. Of course I would want a marquee forward or ruck to come to us but it wouldn’t be right to take a top player from a struggling club. We took Plugger, Hall and Buddy from teams that were very competitive, especially in the case of the Dawks. Tippett also came from a successful club, so I don’t think any criticism can be levelled against us. We have not raided clubs like some Melbourne based ones have- it’s really not in the spirit of the game. Maybe I’m just a softy!

A softy, or maybe you remember (or you've picked up on) the years where the Swans were the preferred prey of the big Melbourne clubs.

I agree. I think we've got something in the pipeline. One KPF who is very interesting to me is Aaron Naughton. The Dogs have Ugle-Hagan, Darcy, and Lobb. Naughton comes out of contract at the end of 2024 so he'd cost a bit but I think he is gettable even if it is a very small chance.

The other one who is not as sexy is Todd Marshall. Pre-agent.

                              Naughton is a gun!

The other end of the ground could be interesting also as a solution for 2024?

The impact Jake Lever has in cutting off entries is mesmerising and so hard to break when the opposition is under pressure and wildly tonking it forward.

We wanted to keep our cut off loose defender in Dawso.

We haven't replaced yet unless out Bomber becomes that player?

I mean without Lever and May the Dee's are an average top 8 team aren't they?

They were massively targeted by Melb.

I wonder if we can't land a 50 plus goal kicking forward that our PlanB is an intercept defender like a Lever?
