Pure speculative puff piece. Since when have we ever openly declared a trade during the season? And both Dyl & the Pelican would have to want to go to that basket case of a team for it to happen
At least link the source so I can give it the disdain it currently deserves pleaseComment

Caiden Cleary’s agent was on the latest Gettable podcast and when asked where he expected the bids for Cleary would come in, he responded back end of the first roundComment

Please not. He makes heaps of mistakes. As useless as teets on a bull. Also Stewart from Essendon has been delisted (2nd or 3rd club) with a year on his contract, and his manager Peter Jess comes out and says Sydney would a good fit for him. Said we would get him for free and Essendon would pick up his salary. Please no.Comment

Desperately need to have a crack at McKay and probably Grundy - our competition gets better every year (it's not a coincidence this year's top 5 have been active traders for years) and to think we can bridge the gap with late draft picks, Moneyball reject trades and mid-year draft hail marys is sheer fantasy. It doesn't work like that anymore.
Saw Curtin play in the WAFL last week - started slowly but got better throughout the game. Word all over Perth is that WCE are desperate to land him so I wouldn't count on him getting anywhere our current draft pick.
The kid that I did love was Tom Edwards for Swans Districts - I have no idea of his story, but in a losing side he was definitely an eye-opener. Probably not what we're looking for but hard to understand how a kid like that isn't playing AFL.Comment

The Cats were being lauded as geniuses with trading after the flag last year - Bruin, the bloke from Suns with draft choice, plus Henry, and guess what? Will miss the finals. Haven’t drafted anyone for years and the chickens are now coming home to roost. Now looking at Grundy and Smith from Dogs who will cost more draft picks and just add to their troop of geriatrics. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Regarding free agency and trading.. who was the last big name FA or trade who went to a club and it made an instant difference (as in premiership)
FA and trades from last year that have been the most effective are the role players, bobby hill, himmelberg (from adl)... taranto and Hopper are both flops on massive money that richmond are now stuck with.
Where i am going with this... do we need mackay? Not somebody who can defend either King, JHU, cameron etc... i would rather see us chase DGB, M. Crouch, JSOS, GRundy. All four of the above could be exactly what we need and we could probably get 2 or 3 of them for what we plan to spend on Mackay if rumours are true...

I literally can't think of the last Premiership team that DIDN'T have a significant free trade player on their team.Comment

All those players went a ready-made periership side the key blocks were there... mel had gawn, track and oliver and gee well they have been paying players in land and brown paper bags for decades... i was referring to a team that wasn't in the window and because instantly was competitive... I agree with Auntie G, you need to do both. It’s all about timing …
and I think now the time is finally right for us to fill gaps in our list via trade / free agency.
If you want to fix KP holes via the draft it’s going to takes many years to do so.
We have three options for KPPs
1) do nothing
2) bring in mature players
3) draft and wait 3+ years
If we are “in the window” (whatever that means) we have to choose 2Comment
