Hayward should have been dropped months ago, his performances this year have been particularly poor. He used to at least grab a goal here and there but now misses from everywhere. Unless he is injured he needs to be dropped and shaken up to get back to somewhere near his best form.

Much better effort, this has not been a non-negotiable as in previous years and when it falls off it gets embarrassing.
We are much better without Buddy and shouldnt have resigned for another year, his dismal finals performance said it all.
Although the effort was much better there was still another fourth quarter fade out, the team is clearly not as fit as other teams.
Time for a major coaching, medical and fitness reboot at the end of the year. Fresh voices and approaches are needed desperately.Comment

When it has been described by Chris Fagan that they were completely in control last qtr…and Brisbane were very disappointed with their 3.8 last qtr and felt they should have won by 6 goals plus.
I wonder how we interpret that summary?
We’re we at actually lucky to only loose by only 16pts?
We’re Brisbane much more in control than we gave credit for?
Would some of us supporters cracked it if we lost by 30 pts plus?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Thinking about the perceived lack of fitness as a reason for our fading in last quarters it is worth remembering that our teams are stacked with players who have not had many preseasons yet.
The VFL side of late has only had half a dozen or so players who have had more than one or two preseason trainings at AFL level. I was surprised to hear Arnold say how great it was not to have to work and go to training after work, and how he was enjoying being able to just focus on footy and training full time. On the other hand, some young players, Buller for example, spend some of their holidays doing extra fitness training with professional trainers. My expectation and hope is that we see Buller back in the VFL team for more games!Comment

Much better effort - still lacked polish but fabulous intent and effort against a very good team. Loved Gus Sheldrick's 3rd qr, hope he gets the chance to show us more of the same.
AFL umpiring continues to push me to the brink of despair. The Florent decision was so obviously wrong that one can only assume the umpire involved doesn't understand the rules. How did we get to this point?Comment

If you weren't a party to internal club cogitations, I'd be asking what you were basing your bald assertion.
My thought was based on the way we stack the backline with attacking small defenders, the way we expend high value draft picks on attacking small defenders, the 8 game season our best/only lockdown defender had last year, and his deployment in a wide range of roles other than that of lockdown small defender.Comment

He’s a part of the leadership group. The club appreciates him, and it seems they have played him elsewhere to try and provide a bit experience in areas where we’ve been lacking this season. Of course, that’s only the observations of a supporter. Like all the other observations on this site.

Agreed- plus where would you fit him in? Wilbur needs to have a good look at himself and lift his game and put himself about a lot more. Horse kept picking him in his early days and we couldn’t understand why. It seems he’s a favourite and now our selectors have to get tough with an experienced player who is not contributing as much as he should. Young player like Errol puts him to shame! Come on Wilbur- up your game or play in the two’s.Comment

Where's our old mate "The Bloods". He called Gus Sheldrick right from the start. He had 19 disposals and 2 goals in only 55% of game time. He has to keep his place. He has really good anticipation, game sense, disposal and goes straight at the footy.
Amartey might be a good forward option with his marking talents, but he is the best example of a ruck resting forward. He always impresses me when he goes on the ball. In the last quarter he played with real authority.

Something missing from the dialogue this week are the calls to drop Cunningham, which had been persistent for weeks. What happened there? They seemed to have dried up.Comment
