Wicks has been given two weeks. Seems about right: high, late and unnecessary.
While I do think that he can often make a worthwhile contribution with his defensive pressure and hard attack on the ball, I'm a bit over the cheap shots and silly aggro. And from his comments about a lack of discipline last night, I suspect that Longmire also thinks that Wicks should get that out of his game.

Agree. Wicks has had a lot of chances on this kind of thing. He went into his shell after that, too, and spent the last 14 minutes on the bench.

I think may have played his last AFL game. If it were my decision, I wouldn't play him again this year in the AFL and delist him at the end of the season.

Yeah, I agree with you Ludwig. While Wicks competes hard (which is probably why Horse likes him), he's prone to making silly decisions and giving away stupid free kicks far too often.

He plays the odd good game but has plenty more where he's mostly ineffective, so I think he's probably just depth at best from here on out. The main issue is that at the moment, there really isn't anyone banging the door down for his small forward spot thanks to Konstanty, who we clearly drafted to fill that position, struggling big time at VFL level!

Bit harsh; but I would keep him in the VFL, until he demonstrates that he can get through a few games without any late hits or unnecessary aggro.

Yes, and I suspect that stuff like that also tends to motivate the opposition.

He is a repeat offender and it is clear to me that he has had too many convictions. The momentum of the game changed when he offended. IIRC that is at least the 3rd time he has done it in a game that was in the balance, that allowed us to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Sure, but is there anything to lose by giving him till the end of the season to clean up his act?

HarryC once again demonstrated what an excellent lockdown small defender he is.
Unfortuantely the Swans seem to underappreciate that role.

Do you think so? What about Nick Smith?

The club certainly appreciates that role. Not so sure about some of the supporters. Harry’s always been an excellent lock-down defender. His job on Shai Bolton a couple of years ago was a masterclass of the genre.

Longmire highlighted his effort after the game. Underrated player on this forum.

I think at this point in his career that if Harry is in the side then he needs to be a specialist lock down small defender and really work hard to be the best he can at doing that role.

There are several dangerous small forwards getting around the league, and we don't really have anyone else in our side who has been able to fill that role with any real success of late, so hopefully he can settle there and really put together a couple of AA Seasons as the premier small defender in the League.

That would be some sort of comeback from basically being retired by RWO to an AA! Lol.

His role is lockdown and his first example was agaisnt Stephen Hill years ago.
Thats his role he is appreciated there, he gets criticism when heis used in another way, a bit like with Fox. They have a role and Limitations, dont expose them

For sure. Harry is the fastest guy in the team and should be on the fastest forwards. Charlie Cameron, who can really motor,
                              just could not shake him.

I actually like a lot about Wicks' game, but he does so many dumb things. He contributed to a couple of losses ( or near losses) last year with his indiscretions. When he returned to the VFL he was at it again, giving away needless penalties. He's not Toby Greene. He is not good enough to wait for him to reform. We have plenty of players who could take his place. We have an excess of outside players who can move to our forward line. Both Stephens' and Gould could be given stints in the forward line in the hope of improving their chances of retention.
