I am looking forward to having Campbell back next week. He's yet to have a game where he really puts it all together but I think he'll think more quickly and provide more penetration than Stephens was able to yesterday. I presume he'll likely replace Stephens, though it could be Roberts. I think the coaches will want to keep Roberts' solid body and contested ball winning ability against the Crows, even if we didn't see that much of it yesterday.
Should keep Roberts in the team. Started to feel at home in the last quarter. Pure footballer who will only get better.

The main thing we have going for us next week is that the Crows are missing a lot of their first choice defenders. They have an extraordinarily young and inexperienced backline at the moment. If we can repeat the style of the last few weeks, our fast, penetrating rebound to a multi-headed forward line should cause them challenges.

Up against that it that they have a better forward line than the Giants or Suns (albeit one that has been kicking inaccurately in recent weeks), and they have consistently played well at Adelaide Oval this year.

I'm expecting it to be a tight game, and it will be a fantastic win if we are able to pull it off.
Well that's disappointing re Ladhams, Hickey is clearly struggling. In a couple of weeks time, we'll likely take on Gawn + Grundy, and whilew we probably won't take two rucks in, it's hard to imagine Tom leading the charge against those two (though my wildly optimistic ladder predictor has us getting through to to the finals even if we lose that game provided we beat the Crows).

As for the Crows, I was expecting the loss of those defenders to be the proverbial straw to their otherwise overachieving season, but to give them their due, they've managed to remain competitive in their absence.

It was an ok win yesterday against mediocre opposition at home, a 5 goal win is a pass mark for Mensa

Still plenty of positives to take out of the game

The stat that has improved in the last few weeks is goal kicking accuracy, unfortunately that seems to have been addressed too late as it cost us multiple games in the front half of the season

Think we’re a quality key defender short to do real damage in September. Francis is an intercept defender only
Your flogging a dead Horse with Mensa bit.

Watching GWS today, as flat as the proverbial pancakes, it seems last week’s tough game in the wet took it out of both sides a bit. We were pretty fumbley, and I thought a little flat, in the first half yesterday, but got it together after halftime.
Just also like to say that the dismissal of GC as “mediocre” opposition is selling them short. They have a superb midfield, and their defence has been solid. It’s a credit to Will Hayward that he was both the most dangerous forward on the ground and nullified GC’s best intercept mark in Ballard.

Yes they did. In the big leagues. The amateurs and the district leagues umpires were a big rough

Re: Ladhams he’s hardly played in the ruck since his return. I’m not sure if it’s injury related or the fact McAndrew is ahead of him in the pecking order now

Also he fell awkwardly in the VFL game yesterday and had the physio look at and strap his right ankle. Noticeably he did not ruck any more after that with Owen serving as the relief for McAndrew

I think I even saw Buller taking a couple of centre square bounces.

Now for the big question ? After the Giants lost, is it possible for us to make the eight if we win one of the next two matches?

the thing is Errol has an in built terminator scanner and is always learning. That wasn’t his best game but a huge mark of respect with Miller being assigned to mind him.

I thought that was a clever match up from the Suns POV. Gulden reads the play and runs as hard as anyone and was taking one of the best ball winners in the comp from contest to contest. We probably don’t have enough going right at the moment to sacrifice Errol’s game to keep Miller away from the ball.

Nice to see some others standing up to be counted to get the win.

Very surprised and pretty pleased that we’re in firm contention for a top 8 spot.
