That is true but umpires are not helped by rules that are so badly written. The rules I played under as a kid wers easy

Another solid win against a team who aren't half bad and had clearly come to play. Gotta love this club, they don't know how to throw in the towel.

Will need to find another gear against a Crows team that seems to have found a second wind, but I reckon we can do it. We'll want more from our younger smalls and it may be time for Ladhams to return.

It sure helps. Another thing that helps: we're +19 frees for in the last 5 weeks. I can't recall that ever happening!

Horse loves him and why not.

There were two plays about a minute apart well into the third quarter that summed up his game. In the first, the ball was bobbling around in their f50 when Anderson finally has a bit of space for a snap for goal, and Rowie comes flying through with just a perfect smother. Then, there was the stoppage on the arc of the 50 at their end, where Rowell slips Rowie at first and runs back a bit to create space for the kick, but as he turns to do it, Rowie just missiles him in a tackle and wins the free after the ball jolts free. The ball then went down the other end for Hayward’s goal.

Watching him and Parker go ball and body hunting in the third quarter was a joy. They just relentlessly pounded in. A pair of total hard arses (excuse the French). It’s no accident we started winning the clearances and Paps and Warner were then able to charge forward.

I personally thought Paps was BOG because he gave us real drive out of the middle. You could make a case for Blakey too. But I wouldn’t be surprised when the coaches votes pop up if Rowie is right up there.

Nah. He was pretty mediocre yesterday in the VFL.

The main thing we have going for us next week is that the Crows are missing a lot of their first choice defenders. They have an extraordinarily young and inexperienced backline at the moment. If we can repeat the style of the last few weeks, our fast, penetrating rebound to a multi-headed forward line should cause them challenges.

Up against that it that they have a better forward line than the Giants or Suns (albeit one that has been kicking inaccurately in recent weeks), and they have consistently played well at Adelaide Oval this year.

I'm expecting it to be a tight game, and it will be a fantastic win if we are able to pull it off.

I am a little worried we won’t show up, but completely agree it would be some kind of win if we can pull it off

is anyone else wondering when Chad is going to add a change of direction before charging forward from contests and getting caught.

was there 4 on the weekend where the defender just new he would take off and got him cold?

I thought it was going to be "one of those Suns games" yesterday, at the outset. Good on the Swans for getting it back with a great third quarter and better second half overall, but it felt like hard work sometimes.

Hard tag on Errol for the first half was quite something to watch at the ground. Felt like Campbell was really missed. And the defence looked a bit flat-footed at times but improved as they went on, several great spoils and marks from Tom McCartin right in front of us.

Hayward on form as a forward is great to watch, good to see McLean carrying on where he left off last week, and I thought Rowbottom had a great game.

Some tired-looking players at the end but all in all, a good win. Two challenging weeks to wrap it up...I think their best is good enough, if they can maintain that level.

Hopefully Rampe is right to return. On The Age podcast last week, there was general agreement Adelaide would beat us. Jake Niall scoffed that none of our defenders could beat Walker, but then they couldn't think of any other than Rampe.

It'll be interesting to see if McCartin is mobile enough for Walker.

Incidentally, Blakey has become an excellent defender - courage, leap, marking. So impressive.

Agree on Blakey. Using his 195cm more often. Some of his marks are towering.

There's no evidence to be gleaned from the last couple of months that "we won't show up". We may lose, but I think the lads have earned our faith that they'll have a red hot crack.

I think some recognition needs to go Francis for his intercept marking and giving good support to McCartin and Blakey in contested marking. He does read the play well that enables him to get to contests

It's reassuring to know that the team can still put in a solid performance when it isn't mostly driven by Insane Errol. I liked the fact that he kept his tackling and pressure up at a high level even while he wasn't able to contribute as much in other ways.

I am looking forward to having Campbell back next week. He's yet to have a game where he really puts it all together but I think he'll think more quickly and provide more penetration than Stephens was able to yesterday. I presume he'll likely replace Stephens, though it could be Roberts. I think the coaches will want to keep Roberts' solid body and contested ball winning ability against the Crows, even if we didn't see that much of it yesterday.
