Further to the story that Chad was seen playing Golf with West Coast officials on Monday, it has been revealed it was with CEO Don Pyke & Kieran Jack.
Cameron Mooney said this is a real bad look considering Chad's situation, even if he was friends with the two former Swans.
Sam Edmund reckons he'd be really surprised if Chad doesn't re-sign with the Swans for at least 2 years till he becomes a FA, considering where both clubs currently are in the premiership race.
I heard rumour during the mid season.break that Chad was seen having dinner with Freo officials. Not surprised Chad is being courted by WA clubs in this way. Hopeful he will re-sign with us.
On the final episode of "Gettable" yesterday, Callum Twomey predicted Chad's signing will drag late into next season as he tries to eek out maximum $$$$ either way.

Snell, Riak and Edwards.
For me these are the 3 guys I will be watching like a hawk in pre season.
i honestly have no doubt they will be pushing for a roll in our backline through out 2025.
That opportunity may come via injury to an existing backline player or just via their performances in ressies demanding a start.
I suspect that these 3 guys have a real future at the Swans.
it is not inconceivable that we may see the likes of Blakey by year 2026 truly having more licence to roam due to one of these very mobile talls moving in as a permanent backline tall.
For me our new head of recruitment just looked like he found plutonium when picked up Riak.
Riak as he comes into his body over the next 12 to 18months is going to be very very exciting to watch.
Riak does not play like a 193cm tall. The guy is a square davinci. Vitruvian Man !!!!
His reach makes him play more like a 196cm tall but super mobile.
blaze away into our half court at your peril as we will be another level with a true x 2 cut off defender that ignites our rebound"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Yes, and each week or two, we'll have people like Sam Edmund and Tom Morris, claiming that they have the latest inside information. When they've probably just been trawling through X and reading the X-cretions of guys who reckon that their brother in law saw Chad in the gym and Chad said ...Comment

If you wanted to leave you would be quiet about it knowing you have 12months remaining
If you wanted every cent available knowing what your giving up, you go play golf with 2 "ex-swans".

I’m also very excited about young Riak, as well as our other young recruits Dattoli and Bowman. As you said Auntie, Snell and Edwards are showing a lot of promise and could take Lloyd’s spot as I don’t think he should be first choice every week now. I like Matty Roberts as he has pace and generally a good user of the ball with his kicking. Not sure where Braeden fits in- he’s too good to leave out but hasn’t really been consistent enough, though he has been moved around a fair bit. Maybe back pocket to relieve Harry?
Up front, Joel needs to show consistency as he’s had a good run of games, otherwise we need to blood Buller. As the GF showed, we need more depth in midfield though on paper this doesn’t look obvious. Can Sheldrick or Cleary step up? From what we’ve seen so far, I don’t think Adams is good enough anymore, so Coxy needs to work most on our midfield to both help our forwards and to stop our defenders being under siege. But hey, I’m saying the bleeding obvious!?Comment

The possibilities:
(1) Chad signs a deal that makes him a Swan until he's at least 30 years old.
(2) He chooses to leave and we get two or three first-round picks in exchange.
(3) He signs a short deal to take him to free agency, then leaves via free agency and we get a late first-round pick for him.
I hope that option 1 happens. If he chooses to leave, I much prefer option 2 because getting back a single compensation pick in the teens would be unders. I would rather get trade value equivalent to multiple first-round picks than just one, especially with Academy player Max King being highly rated: 10 draft prospects to watch in 2025 (Cal Twomey, afl.com.au)."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I’d be giving Warner a clear path forward, and if he doesn’t like the offer he can go. We’d get a premium for him if the trade happens on our terms and can split his value to increase our depth.
Don’t think there’s many players beyond Errol and Blakey I’d have a “not for sale” sign for personally. We don’t want to let it drag out and get another Dawson trade. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Just for the heck off it I looked up Ben Paton on the Saints site. 26yo medium defender at 187cm from North Albury. Recovered from broken leg and this year a ruptured tendon. Below average in all stats on front page, i.e. disposals, kicks, tackles, marks, handballs and meters gained. Why did we recruit him when he is not good enough for the Saints and we have also taken Bice, Andrew, and Leidler for a similar role as well as retaining Francis and Hamling. In my view we have the least need for an injury prone medium defender of any of the positions on our list. Does anybody disagree?Comment

The club may've possiblely had that in mind from its Dawson learnings, but getting Chad to re-sign is the utmost preferred option whilst we're in the window.
Hopefully the club has an inkling that Chad will sign on. I'm optimistic he'll do so to FA (2 years minimum hoping 4+).Last edited by KSAS; 30 November 2024, 07:19 AM.Comment

We would've been better off to have done that during this trade period, as we would've got 2 x top 10 picks minimum for Chad in such a highly rated (Super) draft, whilst year remaining on his contract. He would of course had to agree with that.

Chad, please decide now what you want to do- you owe it to the club!👍 1Comment
