Dunno. Davis/Williams, Bevan, Monty could all provide them with some competition.

Shame he wasn't as accurate as usual but at least he's getting frees
I counted four free kicks for Hall. Must be a record. Hopefully he hasnt used up his annual quota in one game.

Bevan's tackle down near the Bradman Stand was one of the best I have ever seen. A match highlight.

Was thrilled about Jolly's performance. Likewise Davis. Willow still a champion.

Hawthorn were so woeful that its difficult to assess just how good Sydney were today. Personally I am very pleased with the result. Sydney had two lapses - one from 15 mins into the 2nd quarter until some 10-15 mins into 3rd quarter, and the other in the last quarter when Hawthorn outscored us before Sydney kicked two more to outscore them (we outscored them in every quarter).

Sitting on top of the ladder with 214.5% is a great start to the season. Looking forward to a roo hunt next week.

One thing is for sure, it showed with the crowd booing at the end they still have a little way to go to understand some of the more subtle parts of the game.

How pompous. Who are you? What are your qualifications for determining sublety?
I thought it was disgraceful (from a 30 plus year veteran of WAFL/VFL/AFL/Amateur football) . A blight on the game. The SS players should be doing their utmost to promote Aussie Rules in NSW. The crowd had every right to boo. They didn't come to watch soccer.

Pull 'yer head in. The fans did not go to watch soccer, nor did the players go to the ground to indulge your, and the other selfish boo-ers, whims and desires. They went there to win a footy match, which they did convincingly. Those who went or watched on tele did so, presumably, because they enjoy watching football and are in turn entertained. I was. I was entertained for most of the game up to the last couple of minutes. At which stage the players had achieved what they had set out to do. What was to be gained by kicking to a contest in the final minute, other than to provide you with one last mark to see, or a meaningless goal? And why boo the Swans? Surely if Hawthorn were trying to get possession of the ball they would pressure the kicker, or play man on man football, rather than stack the forward line. And how good would it have been to see Davis roll his ankle, or Williams do a knee with a minute to go in a meaningless play? If you don't think you are getting your money's worth hire a highlights video...

They're paid squillions because there's so many in the stand who were never good enough. Supply and demand.

Settle kids. Just be happy that we won (I personally thought that the kick to kick was unnecessary given the margin).

But kicking to a contest was unnecessary too, surely? (And I am happy we won.)

On this kicking backwards at the end of the game thread: Watching on telly I noticed a LOT of people in the crowd departing early. Why?. The Swans should have destroyed Hawthorn by piling on goals at the end - and thereby keeping those early leavers there. They left because it was boring.
The commentators made the remark that the highest score SS kicked last year was 18 goals. That was at about the 15 minute mark of the last quarter - just before the Nick Davis silly short pass.
They didn't achieve the mark - but should have.
On the replay on telly in WA (4pm or 7pm EST time - are you still on daylight saving? if not then 6 pm) they only picked up the third quarter from the ten minutes mark. Obviously bugger all happened in the first 10 of the 3rd quarter. Sydney appeared to wind down from the 15 minute mark in the second quarter.
