Kosi wasn't held responsible for his actions. Either was Judd. Nor Archer - twice. Goddard did the same thing and got a reprimand.

That's why we are attacking the AFL - consistency. If everyone who punched someone got suspended then we wouldn't have a case. As it currently stands, we do.

In the first final, McInerney stuffed us, somewhat astonishingly AFL Coaching director Jeff Gieschen displayed his clairvoyant abilities by claiming that the umpiring idiocy "didn't alter the outcome."

Against Geelong, the Cats got the SCG turned into a swamp for the leg-weary Swans. AFL ground operations manager Jill Lindsay claims the watering was only for three minutes.

Next the AFL appointed their both McLaren & Goldspink to the Saints game. The Swans 2 chief persecuters almost blew the Swans off the SCG with a 6 to 1 free-kick count till 3/4 time.

And now they're either going to rub out Barry Hall, or better yet stuff him about for the whole week so he plays poorly this weekend.

Yes, I may be paranoid, but I really am starting to wonder whether we'll ever get a fair go from the AFL.

And if hall had a brain we wouldn't even be discussing this matter.

Wasn't he in the process of trying to shake his opponent, and make himself available down the ground (which he subsequently did)
BLB think your being a bit harsh on Hall, Hall was tring to get away form his opponent who had a handful of his jumper

ive just been watching the video and from the camera angles shown there is no evidence that the its in play. Barr does turn and put his arms up demanding for the ball but the following passage where he takes a mark is after a stoppage so it wasnt that lead.

How do we know that this is correct? I read it on BF but what was happening to the ball wasn't shown during the match - has it since been covered somewhere?

                Oh come on.

                Two things:
                1. Barry Hall's agression was sorely missing in the other two finals. And the media made it worse by picking on his "poor form". There were even calls for him to get a bit more physical and impose himself.
                2. Barry kicked a goal after the incident, and caused mayhem in their backline. They had to move Gehrig down there for five minutes to impose some muscle in return FFS! It was a mild love tap, the likes of which occur 20 times in a game.

For all its worth, this incident has been blown out of proportion. It has given Saints fans something to cling on to, and therefore partly ignore their shellacking. It gives the Melbourne media something to write about (that actually interests a few more people, seeing as the game is now Perth V Sydney). And its only because of Barry Hall's reputation and Maguire's stunning reaction to it that it has any legs.

Even if Barry had punched him and meant it, noone in the team could have predicted the outcome. It never stopped Archer, Kosi, Judd, Matera, Lloyd, etc from doing the same!

Hall did not do anything untoward. He didn't hit him in the head, or react to all of the pushing and shoving that ensued. Anyone who watches the game regularly knows that, and the current circus is more about it being GF week and it being Barry Hall than anything else.

No doubt this is the same Swans spearhead that was the only choice for captaincy a few weeks ago? I bet the team appreciates your loyalty.

Have you actually watched any AFL? What Baz did goes on about every minute in 18 parts of the ground. What about what Powell did when Goodes went to shake his hand? The Lions players when Crouch is on Aker? The difference here is that Maguire went to ground and the camera was on them at the time. Much of the tribunal is based on hypocrisy and that's why it appears inconsistent. What happens next? Toss a coin. But while on the subject of tossers, it might be a good idea to stand by our captain - I'm sure his team mates will be.

And I'll also bet that the news media are trawling this site looking for quotes.

i understand people being angry, but lets not turn on barry hall, sounds like a saints forum.

He is a dead set champ who has become one of the best in the comp and without him we wouldnt be in the grand final!

We need him to play and he is just as good a captaincy option as kirk

My memory is that Barry is running back to the square with Maguire, swings the arm, and runs off in the opposite direction to receive the mark without an opponent.

The fact that he was without an opponent was a major issue for the Saints, and you'd doubt that it would take too long after the incident for another player not to pick him up.

I agree. This is very soft and makes me think that conspiracy theories have some basis in reality. McGuire went down like a proverbial sack of in a vain attempt to get a free. It was worthy of the histrionics you get in soccer. He should take up dancing. I'm glad that someone that dishonest was played out of the game and that he doesn't have a chance for a flag.

The whole thing is a disgrace and our legal types should be invading Melbourne in a display of Shock and Awe.

It is an outrage which only widens the gulf between the Melbourne power base and AFL elite and Sydney.

Everyone get angry, everyone get loud!

It doesn't matter...either way he has done irrepareable damage to the team. Even if he gets off, it would mean a lot of expelled energy from the swans management that could have been put to better use. If doesn't get off, then we will probably lose this week and will always be saying "yeh but we would have won if hall played"..."the AFL hates the swans"...its all a bunch crap.

The fact is that Hall hasn't got a brain in that thick skull of his, and acted very irresponsibly. I cant beleive he did this to us...and i will never support him in the same way ever again. He has let us down
