Penrith having two games at Greygums. Firsts/reserves V Maitland and Reserves/Thirds V Mac Uni D4.
The unavailability of grounds Greygums got posts up yesterday), Easter next week and R1 the week after made things difficult.
Cricket season going late hasn't helped. Sydney Grade GF on April 2Comment

Wests have withdrawn from Div 3 making it an even 8 team comp.
In 19's, Penno have withdrawn their Div 2 side, Southern Power have pulled out of 19's. Parramatta have gone back to Div 2, back to Back premiers Wests have withdrawn from Div 1 and merged with Moorebank (Sorry Tara, South West Sydney) to play Div 2 whilst St George have enetered a second 19's team in Div 2.
So it's 9 teams in 19's D1 and 6 in Div 2Comment

If the numbers aren't there it's best to make the call now rather than have multiple forfeits during the season. But it's disappointing for the game to have so many late scratchings in Under 19s.

Must be falling apart at Wests, withdrawing from Div 3 and with back to back premiers in 19/2 not providing any numbers or momentum having to form a JV.
With Holroyd Parra losing two games last year (plus the GF) with a % of 400+ and West and SWS JV (these teams finished 1 & 3) wonder who will be the favourites for the flag in 19/2?

Watched the Norths vs UNSW 19's trial on Sat (allowing for both teams to have players coming back) UNSW looked very skilful and were very competitive.Comment

It is disappointing to have the scratchings but it is better that the clubs try and fail (to get the teams up) than to not try at all.Comment

Things still aren't real healthy in clubland away from the Unis and the Hills district are they?
It doesn't help of course that GWS are doing none of the development work they are meant to do but even given my contempt for them it's hard to blame them for Wests. I can't imagine that tatty old club of their makes much money but the land there would be worth a mint. Perhaps they could sell it for a few million, build some modest clubs rooms on Picken Oval and place the rest in a trust, a proper trust and not one they can raid when some megalomaniac comes in as coach promising the world and delivering an atlas....
Hard to see then lasting the season really....Comment

Good to see clubs trying but geez that can't be ideal, it's hardly a five minute drive from Concord to Warwick farm, the only thing they really have in common is Western in their name. It's just a bloodbath out west at grassroots level isn't it, not a great reflection on the battle for the hearts and minds that the AFL and their little golden club are meant to be waging. Sorry I forgot, they are too busy running clinics in Manly, you just couldn't make this stuff up could you?Comment

And look at the fine print....that info was last modified on March 10 !!!!!!!!!!

Similar on social media - AFL Sydney's Facebook & Twitter have been quiet lately. Hopefully that will pick up when the season gets up & running - social media is great for drumming up publicity and getting messages out there, you get instant feedback, and it doesn't cost a cent.
