    Spida coming to Swannies

I am watching Sunrise and they have just announced that Swannies will be offering three players to Hawks to secure Spida Everett for next season.I didn't catch the three names but one was Powelly.
I think Evereyy would be a real asset to back up Jolly until we can develop another young guy. They say ruckman take quite a bit longer to mature.

      Powell, Saddo and Pick 19?

I think Saddo probably deserves a shot at being a regular first 22 player and it looks like he can't find a spot at the Swans. Good luck to him.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Whoa - Yeah get him but how much fora player with around two seasons left?

I would also be happy with Beau McDonald (it it is true he is largely over his injuries).

I also think Mark Jamar from Melb may be worth a look

We are certainly losing our depth
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

With you on that one. Given we have lost Schaubs, Nicks, James, Ball and probably Maxie, we are suddenly going to be picking up lots of kids at the end of the draft. I'd like to hold onto Saddo. In any other year he would have been playing regular footy, but we've had a golden run with injuries

It's not fair to Saddo to hang onto him when he'll rarely get a game. And Spida would great increase our chances of performing about the same level next year - Jolly can't carry the ruck on his own and Goodes can't be his back-up within the existing structure. And I have no faith in Doyle lasting a whole hard season.

So let's go for it. I wonder if we can get Spida into the "all for one" mindset? And had he thought this far when he held up his "Free Barry Hall" sign??

i reckon as soon as ball had confirmed he would be going before the geelong match somebody would have been on the phone to the manager of each ruckman in australia.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Saddo, Powell and Pick 19 would be a steal considering where we are on the premiership clock. This is our best chance to go back to back if this deal was done.

                I'm all for it.

I'm just being realistic about what they will probably ask for.

To be fair though - if you look at the guys we are going to lose.. Ball, Nicks, James, maybe Maxfield, only Jason Ball has been a regular senior player in the second half of the season. We have a few kids already who show a bit of promise, like Moore, Malceski, Schmidt... What we're going to need is: a good ruckman, and maybe another KP back. The depth (especially as it relates to midfield) isn't too bad. We have McVeigh, Spriggs, Doyle, Vogels pushing for spots too.

I reckon we've got one, maybe two more years left in the window for winning flags (hah!! flags!) before we are forced to rebuild. It might not be a bad ploy to try and go for a short term top-up, and have fingers crossed for another injury-free season.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Sorry, guys, but Ch 10 mentioned only two names (Powell and Saddo) not three.

Why are you sorry about that? Two players is a better deal than 3.

Saddo and Powell is the absolute maximum I'd give up for Everitt.
He's only got 2 years left FFS. Maybe only 1.

Roos said 3 years ago he wasnt trading 1st round picks. He did last year, so he better not this year.

I can't see Hawthorn giving up the competition's best tap ruckman for Saddo and Powell, even if the ruckman is 31.

Yeah, I mean what would Roos know? He only just won a premiership, but boy please don't trade those 1st round picks, you promised Roosey!
