On Big Footy they're claiming ROK to Essendon or Pies - but then they would say that wouldnt they?

I have absolutely no doubt that Ireland is on the ball. But I would be disappointed if we traded anybody of any note (ie, any player we have plans for next year) or one of the first two draft picks for a player that has missed two and a half years of football. It just isn't a good bet to make.
There's room on the list for McDonald. I'm not denying that. But realistically, he is about as speculative a pick as Stephen Tingay was back in 2001.We hate Anthony Rocca

We wouldnt want a situation where we have Doyle and McDonald on the injury list, with Jolly and Goodes rucking.Comment

Dont think McDonald would be a good fit (very injury prone)- although I do think he will be traded. We see a lot of him up here and I would say he almost reminds me a bit of Doyle - except maybe a bit more mobile.
We defintely need another ruckman - I hear Crackers Keating is also looking - but me thinks he is also a massive risk and is getting on a bit as well
Everyone is talking hawks and spida but I dont see what we could possibly offer thhat they would want
Saddo - they have an abundance of these types of players
Powell - same
Picks - they already have a priority pick
Not to keen to give any of the premiership stars away to get him.
Maybe they could raid Melb againComment

Spida Offer Confirmed - Saddo & Powell to go
Not sure if this has been written up already, apologies if it has and please merge.
Spida is 31 but we all saw the way he moved on the SCG in 2005. As far as I am concerned, so long as he and Baz don't distract each other, we'd be sitting confy for 2006.

Yeah I think ROK to Pies or Bombers is wishful thinking - he'll sign
On a side issue i have a sneaking suspicion that Macca might go to the bombers - you know the same old thing wants to be with his brother - more playing time etc - Could be part of a Saddo deal
I guess will depend on Stu and fossie (if he wants to go home)Comment

Yes they've fullfilled that function through a premiership year but
MOL isn't a key forward and Leo isn't a key defender, anymore than Darren Jarman was a long term fullforward or Ian Paton a class ruckman.
We're driving a car without a a parking break and the bonnet keeps lifting and is cracking the windscreen (we use a brick called Leo to stop it rolling down our driveway and we employed a human okky strap called MOL to hold the bonnet in place). You reckon first priority is to replace a radiator that's just developed a slow leak because carrying a housebrick and tying the bonnet down worked in 2005. Your not from the Central Coast are you?
By all means get spider after all he looks like a usefull bottle of stop leak, but don't tell me our only problem's the ruck just because we won the flag.Comment

No Charlie, they are holes that existed before last saturday, which we managed to patch in the short term through some remarkable individual efforts and phenomenal teamwork.

Mick is as good a full forward as we need. He has played 55 games over the past three years in that position and kicked 131 goals - an average of about 2.4 a game despite the fact that he is our second choice target! He stands 189cm tall, is a fine mark and has excellent ground skills. I'm not sure what more you're asking for.
As for Leo, well, he has made AA twice in the past two years. I agree that he's suspect against the gorillas, but the sheer fact is that there isn't a whole lot of options on the market. Mal Michael *might* be one, but he is 29, his body is battered and he's shown a liking for dollars. The truth is that whether Leo makes the car look nice and shiny or not, the car goes very well. We weren't the second best defence in the league this year for no good reason.
There is some concern that the physical demands of full back may force Leo into early retirement. We're yet to see that logic substantiated by fact - he's missed something like two games since returning from his freak ruptured spleen in mid 2002. I realise that he's thirty in a year and a half, and we need to plan ahead. That's why promoting Grundy, giving him a taste and drafting a mature tall like Podsiadly is a good idea.
I have to admit to being a little stumped as to what our car's problems are. Sure, it might not look like a Ferrari, but it just beat the Ferraris and won the race.We hate Anthony Rocca
