Was when we were South. Home teams always wore black shorts and away teams white. This all changed in 1975 when colour TV came in. According to Fox commentary team, this will now be our away look from now on. I actually love it. Looks great

They say 2-6 weeks, it was caught under him like a classic syndemosis injury.

Only thing it had going for him is it didnt appear pinned for long, was flicked out quickly

Hoping for a miracle, hopefully not a long one

Our list seems stacked when they talked about who wasnt out there

Also, credit where it's due, Wicks did look good down back

Another impressive 21 point win over Gold Coast. They have been impressive in both matches, but I have to remind myself that they are only practice matches. I expect Errol will miss 4-6 weeks.

Wicks was very good, probably a lock for opening round.

Of the other chasing a spot, Sheldrick was probably next best.

              McCartin looked very smooth forward.

              Wicks has found his position.

Sheldrick won a lot of contested ball.

Jordon and Rowbottom were a class above moving it in the centre.

              Roberts has taken another step.

Francis and Hamling looked pretty good.

Bice had some nice touches and Andrew looks promising.

Young Green worked hard against Witts.

why did we play Gulden. I know injuries happen but arguably he is almost our most valuable player, we didnt play Heeney, warner etc. Hawks must be rapped. Surely he did not need another hit out and we muist have had others who could have filled in the the Suns game.

I only listened on the radio and watched the highlights, but stats wise, Sheldrick topped the team for clearances, contested possessions, tackles and pressure acts. So, I imagine that's the sort of performance that will please the coaches.

I also like the Wicks as a defender experiment. There might be something in his personality, that says that if he can't be a successful small forward, then he sure as hell is going to stop the opposition smalls from doing so. And I did like some of his fast paced rebound work. Of course, there's going to be times when he does stupid @@@@, like giving away an unnecessary free on the goal line, or giving away a 50 from about 50 out, but so far, the good definitely outweighs the bad. Perhaps the real test will be when he comes up against flagrant stagers like Weightman and Ginnivan. Will he able to get through the match without earning a suspension for striking?

I was surprised on the replay, just how quick McCartin was on the lead. Seems to get to plenty of good positions and if he can hold on to a few more marks, then the experiment should be worth persisting with.

David Schwartz on SEN Radio was pumping up Green, at times comparing him to a young Max Gawn. Even if he is a long way from being the finished product.

[QUOTE=KSAS;n1246999Looking forward to see how Riak Andrews, Wiill.Green & Riley Bice strutt their stuff. Interesting to see where they play Hamlng, with McCartin to play forward. /QUOTE]

Was happy to see each showed glimpses of promise that they could become good players. Green will obviously have the longest development but liked his competitiveness.

Riak showed he has the skills and athleticism to develop into a rebounding KPD.

Bice looks to be agile with a good left foot. Loved his pin point kick out which led to that coast to coast goal to McCartin. Can see him getting a game this year.

Glad they persisted with McCartin up forward, who seems to be more effective in his 2nd recarnation in that position. His confidence is growing. Thought Francis played a solid game down back to allow McCartin play up forward. Would he & Melican be a good combo n the key defence posts?

Liked Caleb Mitchell's play at times. Looks to be improving as well.

As others have mentioned, Wicks looks more at home in defence.

All in all happy with the tweaks & positional changes Cox has implemented as they at least show promise, which is needed after that horrid GF performance.

Gerard Healy mentioned Gulden's ankle injury could be anywhere between 2 weeks & season ending surgery. Nervous wait.

I liked what young Green was doing. He was taking on Witts at boundary throw ins or ball ups in play. But at Centre Bounces he was jumping over him. Clever. That will be Cox.

I was surprised by McCartin too. I think with two guys who can take a decent grab down there we are less susceptible to the rebound off the full back line. The other thing that was happening is they were not getting in each others way. Amartey is now a super pack mark because he just splits packs. In the last two weeks he has just monstered big backs. He is a huge guy but incredibly athletic. He can run down fast halfbacks and did so yesterday.

We will get a better idea on how Amarty has developed when he faces Barrass and Co - he certainly hasn’t played like a Marshmallow like he did last year, during preseason and possibly could form a nice combo with T-Mac. Even though it was a practice match and you can’t get a good read I thought the next tier of payers showed something.

I have to say that watching the game Sheldrick still struggles with good decision making the same as Corey Warner

that said sometimes an extra year the system can make the difference for Corey Warner, Gus, Mitchell, Tom Jnr and a few others

overall the Suns were bringing good heat and we rallied and won

Sheldrick is such hard worker but his disposal I think he went something like 44% DE - I am desperate for him to make it because he does give us a different look in the middle - Corey Warner not sure if he can make that final step

something that still worries me and has for a number of years is the poor kicking across goals backline side for swans in particular. Look at kicks by LLoyd, McInnerney who still taps the ball when kicking instead of a wholehearted kick does it when fwd as well look at it gives the player he is kicking to little help.
