I would say with Mills that sort of injury will mean we won't see much of him this season.

Maybe its a captaincy curse with him. perhaps we should ask him to stand down and appoint some one else

Arguably our best player over a 5yr period mostly not available while deep in a contending window

Frustrating as f8ck, even more irritating then the BS he peddled the other day when he said he would be available for Rd 1

We shouldn’t rush him back, and hopefully we’ll play well in our early games. Yes, it’s frustrating but what can we do? At least it gives opportunities to young players which is a good thing for the future. Unfortunately injuries are inevitable- we just need luck on our side!

Grundy out of the weekend, and a 'test' for Opening Round.

Which I guess means unlikely, but at least it's not a long-term injury.

So, Ladhams, time to repay the faithful. I personally think Peter *can* play good footy and his early 2023 form before injury was quite good, but he just needs to avoid the brain fade stuff.

See the latest update on Swans ruckman Brodie Grundy ahead of the side's AAMI Community Series match against Gold Coast.

Fair enough, he doesn't need the practise anyway and I'd be happy to see Ladhams given a go as the 2nd Ruck long term.

Just hoping it's not the usual, month long "Test"

Pretty inexperienced team to play suns. No 1,4,5,6,7,11,14,24,43.

I'm assuming players who missed both trial games will not come under consideration for opening round. except for maybe Papley? (only if 100% with his ankle). No need to take any risks at this time of year, ahead of long season. Have R3 bye.

We could be without Grundy, Logan, Harry, Papley & .Mills against the Hawks. Hope no further injuries this week. Provides opportunities for the likes of Adams, Ladhams, Sheldrick & Co Warner.

Looking forward too see how Riak Andrews, Wiill.Green & Riley Bice strutt their stuff. Interesting to see where they play Hamlng, with McCartin to play forward.

Edit; interesting to see Maclean & Fox named amongst the emergencies, so assuming they play in reserves again & perhaps not in calculations for opening round?

Great to see an article already on the Swans website reporting on the 'VFL' game earlier today. It looks as though Jarrod McVeigh is going to give the VFL team the recognition that we (I) have longed to see. His report is also full of information re individual players as well as how the team went. Long may it continue into the season proper.

I see Buller kicked 4 goals in the reserves game. Must be back to fitness. This is an important season for him, make or break. Big lad with ability to kick goals but has been crueled by injury. Could get a chance if Amartey or Logan are injured.

I'm wondering (hoping) that Tom McCartin playing up forward in practice matches is based on structure and flexibility rather than a permanent change.
1 - Structure: With McLean, McDonald and Buller all injured we are short of tall forwards. Having a second tall is more representative of structure we will take into the season.
2 - Helping McCartin understand forward craft and give the team a bit more flexibility if needed.

And good to see Jack Buller back and playing a decent game. In the one reserves game I have seen him play, he looked good. And a capable forward/ruckman is position I think we need.

Based on how thin we are for talls down

                          It looks like madness atm

I'm overseas and kept up with the game on the AFL app. Not with Ludwig until next week. Anyone got a match report for me.

Retro uniform. We played with black shorts into the 70's. I think maybe when colour TV arrived we went to red shorts. Or was it when we went to Sydney?
