Ten minute video of the last training session of the year. Impressive insider video; cause for optimism.

This article says that so far, Dattoli is the only one of our players who'll be missing round one through injury.

Not sure how correct that is, as I'm sure that I've heard Cox say that there's players in the rehab group? Though of course, players could complete their rehabilitation before round one. While on the other hand, there's still plenty of opportunity to be injured. But good so far, I guess.

Good to see them doing something together and bonding as a team.

The latest Inside Sydney training footage.

Seems quite a competitive preseason, so far. My vague impression is that Cox is a bit more of a hard taskmaster than Longmire. But maybe there's a widespread feeling within the football department, that last year's grand effort was unacceptable and therefore the team needs to develop a harder edge?

+1 Particularly with the back to back 2k time trials which caught the players unaware, as a test of their resilience in unexpected situations.

It got a bit heated during a practice match today.

Mum has her say after Warner brothers' training stoush
"The incident lasted no more than two seconds and the brothers were spotted having a laugh together at three-quarter time, with seemingly no bad blood between the pair."

Since they're brothers of a similar age, I suspect that they've had bigger fights over the last chop at a family barbie.

Pretty interesting video of the week at training / the club: https://youtu.be/HX-5oF5-upA?si=GNg-WfBpFMmxHDtJ.

I'm not sure I have seen that kind of edge in club training videos before.

Yes, I do get the impression that Cox wants the team to be harder at the contests. Which after the grand final, is probably what many people want.

I do think that it's going to be hard to get the balance right, though. On one hand, I think he'll want the team to fiercely attack the ball from round one: both to make his mark as a coach and to sell the idea that there's no mental scars from last season. But on the other hand, after a great start to that season, we probably did peak at around May or June. So, it's going to be a challenge to play a high intensity inside game, combined with hard outside running, without burning the team out.

Though it's possible that last season's slump, wasn't so much burnout, but more the insidious belief, that one quarter or so of our best football, would always be enough to blow any other team away?

I'm not sure we peaked as early as people suggest or if we were as far in front as people suggest.

I remember 3 or 4 guys having exceptional moments and games masking over the cracks of 5 or 6 who were carried.

Basically we got away with alot early on, coming from behind in some games and the old BS of not changing a winning side rewarded alot of players it shouldn't have

Hopefully the main pressure Cox is applying is the pressure to perform, week in week out

Absolutely. We can’t afford to carry passengers- of course some players have enough brownies in the bank to allow for a below-standard game once in a while, but Cox needs to send a strong message in this regard. It’s the only way we will win the flag. A win, if not convincing, doesn’t mean you don’t change the team. Relying on a few to win the game is just not good enough anymore- that’s the lesson from the GF!

I'm genuinely curious to hear from anyone at match sim: with McCartin up forward, what was our set up down back. Obviously, Ramps and Melican start, but we'll need more coverage than that.

Me too, I know a few are bullish on Snell and Edwards.
It's not impossible as we saw with Roberts but it is rare for a 0 gamer to come in and have an impact especially in the hole Tom Mc leaves.

I'm still hopeful Hayden Mc goes back, after watching Andrews dominate for Brissy
