    2025 List Management

A new thread for the new year's list management discussion.

Not yet enthused yet about the season after the grand final let down, and then Horse retiring, but hoping the passion comes back, and I get to experience a third premiership before my time is up.

Some may remember, I shared some time ago, about having stage four cancer at (now) the age of age 52. The treatment hasn't worked unfortunately, and like that game in the Gabba, the lights have gone out part way in my third quarter, and I am playing a shortened 4th ;/.

There are some other treatment options left, each one less likely to succeed statistically, but there is still some hope for extra time. Anyway, hoping this year will bring some joy to all of us supporters, and now you will also know why I may stop suddenly starting the weekly match selection list threads

Sorry to hear that. Cancer treatment has been making great progress in recent years, where conditions that were a death sentence five or ten years ago, are now often effectively treated. So, hopefully a breakthrough is made with your condition.

So sorry to hear that Maltopia. Cancer is a terrible disease. Stay strong, our thought's are with you, and I think I can speak for all us Red and White family, that we'll be with you for the journey, and hoping that the Swannies can finally give you and the rest of us the elusive third flag.

Is anyone else still having nightmares re Blakey and the crew chasing after Ah Chee and Cameron running into space one on none........ in that first and second qtr of the GF ?

                        ...........

A serious recruitment of running backs of which i would still include Andrew as a serious attacking defender. No doubt Andrew will be able to move towards a Blakey type Key Def cut off player in the near future.

So what is the go with so many defenders recruited? in particular 3 of them smaller ie 181cm to 187cm......? and two of then nature age makes u wonder even more so.

Cunningham, Florent, Lloyd, Roberts. Jmac are generally our 5 guys rotating thru the backline as smalls............I wonder if there is an expectation for more midfield time ie like we saw for Florent playing more wing in season 2024? And Jmac sliding through the middle a little more.

plus still on the list who could feature in the backline competing for spots

The only tall defender we recruited is Andrew. From the ones on your list Auntie, we’ve tried Francis - Edwards and Hamling are yet to debut so we don’t know if they are good enough if needed. Is Snell a tall? We do seem to have plenty of options for medium sized defenders, some of whom could have spells in midfield like Ollie and JMac.
I’m a bit concerned about our options up forward however- we seem a bit short in covering for the inevitable injuries!

Makes sense to me wiith the recruitments of the general defenders, considering veterans Rampe, Lloyd & Cunningham are nearing the end & need to transition our backline. Francis & Hamling are stop gap measures, with the latter yet to play and as KPF in the Ressies.

Riak Andrew, Patrick Snell & Will Edwards as our up & coming KPDs.

Quesion remains whether if all will cut it as senior players.
