Oops, possibly a Freudian slip in that I've already put a line through him for his Swans career.

I remember back in 1992 with the original mid season draft concept, we drafted Darryn Cresswell. Our & possibly the AFL's greatest midseason draft pickup!

Right you are Ugg! I had overlooked Dale Lewis. We certainly did well in those earlly MSD's.

Let’s not write off the MSD then, seeing we picked up Cresswell and Dale Lewis. Our track record is pretty good with late picks in the ND while our earlier picks are often busts. How come we don’t have a pick in the MSD? A pick near the bottom end would probably turn out to be a star!

So, I have no idea if he'll ever play footy again or we're interested, but Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is up my way in the northern rivers, doing some training. He's taller than I imagined. Easily 6'6.

With both Edwards and McDonald still listed as 8-12 weeks away from a return, I’m a little frustrated we didn’t put a line through one of them for this season a week ago and take a pick in the MSD. I know history tell us not to expect much - or anything - from the MSD, but there were a few players taken who might at least have provided something to our VFL team. Like the tall from the WAFL whose stepfather* has likened to Tom Hawkins. I think he was drafted by Essendon and we’d have had a pinch ahead of them (I think).

                  * not solely parent over-projection when the step father concerned is Derm.

By my maths, the 8-12 weeks suggests they could come back between round 21 and week 1 of the finals. When making a call about the long term injury list, they might have considered finals still to be an objective. Also, Logan's timeline for return was always TBD until the surgeon's review last week.

Matt, it was pretty obvious from his surgery that the timeline for Logan was going to be a long one. At that stage the club may have thought that we could make the finals so he would be an option to play. Unfortunately on current form we won’t play finals, though you never know what can happen when we have our key players back and rediscover our form and confidence returns.

They said on footy classified last night that his preferred club is the Sydney Swans. From my viewpoint I am 50/50 about going after him. Yes he defiantly talented footballer and we need someone in our attack that can take a mark, but if we go after him, we will have to give up early draft picks and miss out on academy lads such as Max King, Carmicheal and etc.

More on Ugle-Hagan here: 'He's our player': Dogs coach dismisses Ugle-Hagan speculation. Mentions Nine's speculation that the Sydney Swans is where JUH wants to play next year.

If he can get himself in a good state of mind, and he wants to be traded to Sydney, then the Swans should consider it.

We need a KPF. Jamarra fits the demographic requirements. If he is committed or not is a question we need to explore. Bulldogs are going to say he is a required person. We should say - fire sale on players that we don’t need should go and give them a future first rounder. We don’t trade players and future first rounders but I think we will have to and we should think of it. Doggies are not in the best bargaining place if he doesn’t want to play for them. It’s not like if they don’t sell him he can still stay and play good football for them. They don’t need any of our players so I reckon it would be picks that they are interested in. But he is only a one first rounder to the max with his baggage and not a consistent elite performer

We defo need a talented KP up front if we’re going to challenge. I’m not saying that’s all we need as it’s obvious we have a need for a big bodied midfielder as well. But if we have Curnow for example, our attack would be a totally different proposition. Would he be keen on coming to us and could we do a deal with the Blues?
