Reports on Channel 7 that Curnow’s management has reached out to Papley’s management about a trade.

Jeremy Cameron played his first 9 seasons at GWS: 427 goals in 171 games, 2.5 a game.

Charlie Curnow has played his first 9 seasons at Carlton: 313 goals in 149 games at 2.1 a game.

Since being traded to Geelong, Cameron has kicked 300 in 105 games at 2.86 goals a game of 5 seasons.

Geelong traded a first and two future firsts (13 15, 20) for Cameron (got two future seconds back). Worth it? (Without a doubt!).

Charlie also had ankle surgery at the end of last year not to mention 2 knee surgeries this year, 1 a month ago.

If we are stupid enough to go all in for that we need a recruitment clean out too.

Shame about Fox. He was a very underrated footballer but injuries and age have conspired against him.

I was at a footy camp a few weeks ago, Fox was there with several other Swans. There was a kids Q&A session and one kid asked what they all planned when they retire. Fox started with "it might be sooner for me than these blokes". Maybe just referring to age, maybe he knew the writing was on the wall.

Completely agree with the previous comments - he had that calm poise required to rebound out of half-back, and played other roles very well too. Sad to see him go.

Unrelated, but James Jordon's answer to the retirement question was "put my feet up and kick back for a bit I reckon", which got a laugh and sounded honest!

Apparently he is off to Brisbane, but why not have a crack at Oscar Allen?
Decent player and with some quality around him could be very good. Given his RFA status, would cost a lot less than Curnow and any other options we might be looking at.

In 7 years Oscar has kicked more than 28 Goals once.

At the same point in their careers, he is behind Logan and Joel

Imagine the uproar on this forum if we gave either Joel or Logan 6yrs at 1mil after next season, if they kicked 50 goals

I don’t think our recruiters are stupid- they just get the high draft picks wrong a bit too often! At first, I thought Charlie is the player we would need up front but only if he was really keen to come to us. But on reflection and noting your comments- I don’t think we should be after him. A KPD is what we need and if we can’t get a good one, we can move Logan down back. A really good defence is the key as we need to build from the backline. Snell maybe ready at some stage next year. It’s too early for young Riak- d o we have anyone else who could step up?

Stupid recruiting is offering a 1st Rnd Pick and Prime Papley for Danniher who hardly played for 2yrs. Danniher played 4 games the next season the year after we offered that.

I feel sick when i think what these guys would entertain for a guy under contract for 4 yrs

FYI the difference between Papley and Danniher since that was floated is 20goals over 6 seasons.

Not sure who is ready to step up as I don't watch the 2s enough.

Would like to think Green and King would feature, the top teams seem to be able to slot in the occasional youngster, just takes someone to make a call on an older player.

Would prefer to see Buller back before Logan, prefer Logan has a licence to play up high.

Buller seems a perfect fit as an intercepting defender if we had to create one.

While we are on youngsters and Riak in particular, he looks like a good third tall Defender. Looks like he could push for selection, I hope we arent waiting for him to put on size, his brother would still not have debut if that was the case.

Sorry what i meant was Cameron was recruited by Geelong as a 27yr old Free Agent

Charlie is 29 with a 4yr contract

I just had a look. Curnow will start his tenth season 14 months old than Cameron started his.

I would take Curnow. He is elite with 2 things - field kicking and goal kicking. I think he is poorly used by Carlton. They have no good field kickers and no good forward 50 game. Curnow will absolutely tear the competition if he comes to us.
He has injury concerns and he is expensive - both trade wise and salary wise I reckon. How we get that done not sure. But put Logan behind the ball, and Amartey, Curnow, Papley, Hayward, Heeney forward line looks good.

I certainly take your point about his record, but I think (and this probably applies to Curnow too) that in the right environment he would thrive. It helps that he would be cheaper, both from a trade and salary viewpoint, and he is three years younger.
I imagine he will end up at Brisbane and kick 60 goals a year for the next 4 -5 seasons.

Hipwood hasn't been able to do anything like that and I'd rate him better than Allen

We literally talk all the time about how long KPF take to mature so no point drafting one, yet we have one on our list about to hit his prime and we are looking ? Madness
