Thinking about Kyle a bit more, I'm wondering if some clubs are seeing him more as a possible big bodied, inside midfielder? That is, he's largely been playing as a running half back, but I'm not sure if his disposal is high quality enough, for him to be successful at AFL level in that position? But he's solidly built and 188cm, who's good at winning contested ball. So, maybe there's a bright future for him, in a position where a lot of your possessions are either shovelling out handballs or hacking out long kicks in the general direction of the forward line? And that's possibly an area where we need a bit more depth?

I think you maybe right on this, and that is exactly what the Swans need. They will match whenever the bid comes and worry about the rest later. I am optimistic that they will get all three.

The final Rookie Me rankings have them in the 40-50 range. So will probably come into consideration, if we have some leftover points from our academy picks. I quite like what they say about Swadling.Cal Twomey has listed 4 open players we have shown interest in should the opportunity arise:
1. Avery Thomas - Tasmanian rebounding half back
2. Max Kondogiannis - Tall intercepting marking defender from Oakleigh Chargers
3. Sam Swadling - WA midfielder
4. Noah Roberts-Thomson - Medium forward from Sturt. Cousin of Lewis.

With a rugby league background, he probably likes to tackle, as well. Rowbottom mark II?👍 1Comment

Twomey has Kyle going at 16 and Carmichael at 29. I think that is a bit high for Kyle. I think Carmichael will go first because teams today value great disposers and he is Gulden like. king didn't come into the equation but his 2025 was a bit ordinary and it doesn't surprise me he has slid. McNamara and Chamberlain are rookie selections. But I don't think we will have to make a bid until about 20 or even later. Our Academy boys are slipping down the order due to the Suns and F/S bids. After Kyle he has Murray at 18, Addinsall at 19, Ison at 22 as other F/S Academy picks. But there are many players who have been rated higher than Kyle in the draft and most pundits have Harry going at about early in the 20's. I know Twomey is the Draft Guru but this time I think he has the boy far too high. Hopefully anyway. To get all three it would be better if the first bid came in the 20's.👍 1Comment

Thanks Deja. Noticed they have King ranked at 21, Kyle at 31 and Carmichael at 33. If the bids come at this range we'll be right to match with some leftover points to boot!

Unfortunately, I suspect that the Twomey draft is more likely to be accurate. Although we do have pick 71, so if there was someone that we liked, still available very late in the draft, then I guess we could use that. Though it's also possible that Chamberlain gets bid on late.Comment

ESPN also has GWS bidding on Kyle at 16. They also predict Fremantle bidding on Carmichael at few picks earlier than the Bulldogs (Twomey's prediction). https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/...sma-harry-dean

Reading Cal's latest draft rumours, there's a heap of possible pick swaps for teams going up the order and slipping back in the order. That pick swap buzzer will be getting a workout!
Four bid matches in the first six picks will create four extra picks pushing our picks out but should also burn off some picks bringing us in. Keeping track of picks may be difficult depending on the graphics they are showing.
I suggest you don't leave your screen for anything or you'll miss things happening!Comment

On the club's website there is a Gettable interview with Chris Keane, explaining the preps they've done in going through the points scenarios in matching bids for the Academy boys.
More or less have to wait and see where they come tonight (if at all ). Interestingly, Chris didn't rule out a live pick when asked.Comment

Lots of pick trading already, and two bids so far. The video feed on the AFL website only shows year and round for live pick trades (why?), but the live draft tracker shows these picks.

Four bids in the top six. This has moved Sydney's picks a bit more; Sydney now has picks 26, 27, 36, 55."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Pretty filthy by the Giants, trading up to make a bid on Kyle.

Little bit rude of the Giants and probably slightly more than we were hoping to pay, but hey, welcome Harry Kyle.👍 1Comment

And we match GWS bid on Kyle at 14, after they moved up. What a rise, but not surprising for me. It potentially means the Swans sacrifice one of the other Academy kids, but I personally think he was worth it. His upside is enormous.
Aaaaaaaaand, if we do let one go, it proves the system as it’s designed work in yielding talent to other clubs, which is why the dickheads at AFL House shouldn’t change it further.👍 1Comment
