We were just not on our game today. We can still finish 3rd or 4th as Melb face Geelong & Adelaide at AAMI, they will lose one of those games. St Kilda has Freo, & Bulldogs and Freo has West Coast. I think it better to lose one now than to win 7 in a row before the finals plus now Nick Davis will have to be recalled. Having said that I don't think we are playing well enough to be a genuine top 4 team but does it really matter, once you are in the finals anything can happen.

Because of the ladder position, our win last week against a very undermanned Melbourne was way too overhyped, we were caught out big time today.

Davis should have been back - who knows if he really would have made the difference, but with his skills and hunger, I truly believe he probably would have been.

I think the funniest thing I saw all day was LRT in the forward line. Not attacking the man, but geez, you'd think Davis would have provided something up there.

Goodes I thought kept up his form, some kicks didn't hit their targets but Geelong didn't give him any space.
Craig Bolton was excellent, shut out SOG completely.
ROK played well in the first half but went missing for the a large part of the second half.
Kennelly had a shocker, didn't help the cause by turning the ball over near the end of the 3rd quarter.
Bevan was near to useless, started on Byrnes, got outpaced and outmarked. Very slow in moving the ball on. Reminds me of a young Ben Mathews.
LRT left on Mooney for too long. I thought Leo should have been switched to Mooney and LRT taking on Ottens.
Richards has shown an ability to put his body on the line in the last 2 weeks that I didn't believe he had. May have changed my opinion on him.

Looking on the bright side, we play Brisbane and Carlton in the next two rounds before the finals. Hopefully, both of them will be wins and we will manage to stay in the top 4.

I suggested Hall to be dropped to stir a pot a little. Today's display is absolutely atrocious this late in the season. And includes some player who were bagging Davis. I'm referring to the leadership group. Come to think of it I don't even trust Roos anymore.

I can't imagine you going in for the hard ball.

I remember, once upon a time, a game I was playing in a fulla had a go at me. We'd call him an outside player. He was more than happy to have a go at me 'cause I didn't give him a handball from a hard ball get that I'd just won. I've never seen him get a hard ball.

More than happy to have a go at those that try and don't acheive.

On the subject of puerile. Wouldn't the attitude you've displayed over the longevity or your postinf fit nicely within that definition.
What has this to do with the game?

We are now relying on other results to go our way.

We will be 5th by Sunday night.

That was @@@@ from the players and the coaching staff. Pure @@@@. If we plan on playing like that in the finals I'd rather not play finals.

i actually wish we were coming up teams like the bulldogs and west coast in away matches for these last two rounds. instead we have two soft teams at home and while we may improve our ladder position, we may have very little idea or confidence in our form.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Why are people saying negative things about Hall, yes he did have a good defender on him but he never had the chance for a good one on one contest with the sort of delivery that was going in today and there were few chances for a second contest

He didn't run hard enough or present himself on the lead well enough.

                                My 2 cents:

Bevan - useless hack, too slow to dispose, must be dropped

Richards - strong game, thought he played well, took some good marks and was one of the few who rebounded well off half back

Kirk - selfish shot at goal, pathetic for a bloke who is meant to be the ultimate team man

Roos - struggles with pressure. Why wasn't Doyle played forward? Why wasn't BBBBH moved earlier, somewhere, anywhere?

Still, we should get a top 4 spot if we win the last 2 games, so no need to panic and maybe an ok time to have a loss.
