Kennelly is getting pill but his disposal selections are just way off. Unless of course he has become colour blind because he seems to kick to players with different coloured jumpers lately.
LRT wan't that bad. Coludn't see the sense in putting him to FF.
C Bolton - outstanding as usual. His negating role though seemed to work against us we missed his run off HB.
Fozzy - seviceable again, but why is he off for such long periods when he is playing so well. The go to man off FB line again.
Kirk - horrible kicking.
Ablett superb but looked injured late, apparently a back and was holding his right hammie.
ROK, Hall, Grundy and MOL all have sore necks from watching the ball go over their heads.
J Bolton OK given he was Ko'd early.
Jolly played OK.
Schneider and Buchanan were very ordinary. Need a lot of work on their disposal.
Goodes is a star and he and Ablett kept us in the game. What gets me Goodes has been very good from Round 1 and is still going with the work ethic, yet others seem to turn it on when they please. Maybe that is why he is a star. Standout Captain, no contest in 2007.
Doyle - dropped marks and easy ones at crucial moments. Needs to grab those with the limited time he has. A worry.
Malceski - pretty weak today. I mean weak at the contests and absence of chasing. Lazy looking effort. Is he a front runner.
The team - short ineffective kicks with the wind. Went to the boundary on the outer side when it was obvious the wind was taking the ball out. Do we need pefect conditions to play our best.
Last time I looked the goals were at the long ends of the ground, but we seemed to be kicking to invisible goals on the wing.
Do they ever do stats on the number of short kicks by a side in a game. I reckon we broke all records today.
Got smashed at the stoppages and centre bounces.
Strange thing about the game as I saw it was we seemed to have the ball just as much as them but insisted on indirect footy, the few times we went to the top of the square we goaled. I dont know that we are able to switch our game styles mid game anymore.
Nico, I thought Bevo had a blinder, don't you think?
I will never get the past 2 hours of my life back...what a waste of an arvo watching this.
I understand that teams cannot put on stirling displays week after week, unless they are having an exceptional year. And though I hate our team losing, it is more bearable if they look like they are trying...
What I hate is:
Having to perform miracles to secure any seats at this venue which does not cater for the number of fans wanting to attend;
Having to get up early, go on a long long bus trip, eat crappy food at a local pub;
Sitting amongst 99% cats supporters in the Doug Wade Stand where any goals by Sydney are met with a deafening silence;
Poor radio coverage where the radio will only work if being held sideways, with my hair parted on the left, whilst bowing at the moon.
Shivering in the stands as the weather is Geelong is ALWAYS CRAPPY - it took me hours to thaw out;
Watching my team who looked like the didn't want to be there (just like me!), and Geelong suddenly playing like millionaires.
SOB!!
At least if you were watching it on TV you only wasted 2 hours!
Last weekend in Sept 05 - The best weekend of my life!

I know people who 'wasted' over $250 on flights tickets transfers & accom etc just to get down to the game from Sydney. Unfortunately that is part & parcel of supporting your team. It sucks, but that is life.
It is the bad days (away vs Carlton in 1998, Port 2003, Perth 2005) you have when you wonder why you are doing this to yourself that make the good days (finals 2003 & 2005) worthwhile.
Admittedly though Geelong is ill-equipped to handle AFL-sided crowds. But it is a small place. And they have already built a bigger stand already.
JF
PS:- I don't fly to Perth any more. Because you feel like total crap about having shelled out so much money for the players to play like utter @@@@e every time.

JF, can we read anything into your new signature??

I was in the DWS(bay 7),it was @@@@ and to top it all off i had to travel all the way home with my arsehole mate(geelong supporter) giving me the @@@@s,about how good they are and we havent got a hope in hell of making the GF again.He's the Cats supporter who says the Premership should have been theres,and we won by pure luck.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

We certainly have more hope of making the GF than Geelong.

All you had to say is "At least we won one, unlike your pitiful lot!"
"we are Geelong, the greatest team of all.
We are Geelong, we're always on the ball.
We play the game as it should be played
UNTIL GRAND FINAL DAY!
Then we LOSE THE PLOT, we FALL APART
Down at Kardinia Park!"

But the grand final is played at the MCG.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Maybe it is reference to some sort of emotional breakdown, following the lost grand final, back at the home ground. Although, the stadium sponsors wont be happy with the KP reference. More work needed on the ditty I think.

I don`t feel that bad now.
I only had to travel 15mins to the pub watch the game, then 15mins back home. At least I had cold beer on tap. Lucky there was only 1 Cats girl there and she was just sitting there with a smug smile.
Oh well. Next Saturday I`ll be there again.
PS.. this will be the 4th weekend straight that Sydney hasn`t been on free to air tele here in Perth. At least we can see it at a pub.
Winning all those games in a row early this season was most ?unswans? like. Last year the best run was 4 in a row. When a team plays our style, where winning depends more on mindset than sheer ability the inability to turn it on every week is not surprising. Yes, we played like dogs droppings, the intensity and awareness was way down and the field kicking atrocious. But the circumstances were that the real pressure was off both teams, which resulted in our mob playing worse than usual and the cats playing better. Better now than in a knock out game come September. If we play like @@@@ then, I?ll have something to say. For now I remain hopeful that the real team will turn up when it counts.
