      Good one MMG.

In my view it is no different to John Brogden trying to crack on to a journalist. Nowhere in the job application did it say, no, you cant do that, but it doesnt wash either way.

I have been out on the turps and made a fool of myself, yet somehow evaded being locked up. If he was targetted for who he is(ie there is 'nothing' more to the story), that only reinforces the fact that it is sheer stupidity for someone in his position.

Whether he is a role model or not, it is bloody stupid.

I think you've been fairly harsh and condescending here Layby. But, make sure you still give us fresh training updates as they come to hand.

          You do it.
          I do it.
          We all do it.
I've just done it and I'm ready to do it again!!
(*taken from my #1 Movie - History of the World Part 1).

Of course it's stoopid to go and and get rolling drunk, but that doesn't stop a lot of people from doing it over and over again (or even occasionally).

What was he doing in Melbourne? Was he there on Toaster business, or was he having a holiday?

If he was on Toaster business, fair enough ... crucify him.
If he was on a holiday ... (as much as it's killing me to say this) ... give the guy a break. It's not like he's Chris Tarrant or Michael Gardiner and is doing this crap in the middle of the footy season. It's xmas season!!

I get that and i get that because he's Ben Cousins it may have added to him getting arrested whereas if it was someone else who was doing exactly the same they may have been passed by. But the thing is he's 28 years old and he is someone who is in the spotlight for both his football and the other incidents that he's been apart of (booze bus and the thing with him and Michael Gardnier and the shooting/stabbing incident at some nightclub) so don't you think he would watch what he was doing a little. Whether he likes it or not he is a role model to young kids. He's 28 years old, he needs to grow up.

It isnt the point that we all do it.....(although we dont all run from booze buses!!)

In reality, I can urinate in public, get drunk fall over, vomit, etc, etc. and apart from my own shame, I would get away with it. If an AFL player was to do the same thing they would get crucified.

I know my career and my family is not going out the window if I pinch someone on the arse or try and hit on someone at a function. John Brogden should have realised that was not the case for him.

There are certain obligations that come with his title, I'm not saying he shouldnt go out, shouldnt drink, etc but AFL players and sportspeople in general are different to "normal" people in that regard.

Holiday or not is irrelevant in my opinion.

Yes and no. Yes, as I said, he's a bit foolish for not considering the repercussions. No, because it's off season and Christmas so why can't he go out and get drunk like everyone else. As for being 28, so what? People do go out and get drunk when they get older.

Yes, but it also may have not. He may have been acting like a complete and utter moron and after all this is Ben Cousins we are talking about.. the man who left his girlfriend and car on the side of the highway whilst he ran from the police.

Bloods - As for the age thing, i guess that's personal perception. Personally, i think a 28 year old 'professional' football player shouldn't be getting so drunk in a public place that he's getting arrested. If he wants to get drunk, do it in a private place.. not in Southbank.

He could have been setting fire to the cafes, or he could have been quietly minding his own business.

Plenty of 28 year old professionals get drunk in public places, especially at Christmas time. It may not have had anything to do with his behaviour or who he is.

Setting fire to cafes has no relevance though. He was arrested for being drunk in a public place, no? If he was quietly minding his own business then there would have been no grounds for him to be arrested.

Yes there would - being drunk in a public place is an offence. It gets enforced occasionally regardless of the behaviour of the person.
