(Not Such A) Jolly Good Trade Coming (merged Jolly trade thread)
It's hardly 'doomsaying' when Jolly was "understood to have been contemplating a return to Melbourne to be closer to both his and his wife's family".
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."
By whom? Apart from the press I have not seen Jolly or his manager say it. That's my frustration at this time of year.
Some people will run with anything that is said in the media stating it as fact.
You mean like saying Jolly is going nowhere based on the media reporting that he has been offered a 4-year contract...?
If the Swans are going to go down the virtually unprecedented path of offering a 4-year contract, you'd think there was some truth in the possibility of a return to Melbourne.

That is a possibility as is the possibilty that the Swans need a ruckman for the long term due to the lack of established ruckmen on the list.
Bulldogs and Melbourne have already agreed terms to sign Adelaide ruckmen, so Jolly's chances of returning to Vic have been cut significantly I would think.

Yes, interesting that the club announced the four year offer several days ago, but there has been no reply (publicly).
Reading between the lines.....
(1) He must be really serious about going to Melbourne because otherwise we would never have had to offer him four years.
(2) We must be desperate to keep him because otherwise we would never have had to offer him four years.
(3) He is in a brilliant bargaining position because Richmond have only one (injured) half decent Ruckman (Simmonds) and the first pick in the PSD.
Deals....Richmond's 18/19 (or whatever) won't be enough (well....both would!) so we'd need a player. I say Tambling...needs a fresh start, or possibly Oakley-Nichols + 19, very talented but needs to learn work ethic and could do with a warmer climate and fresh start.

Although I feel I guilty saying it sans headband, the boy can play - but I would be glad to see the back of him.
He is too prone to going awol for my liking. I wouldn't be trying to throw a big contract at him - if he wants to stay and play for the team he will. Otherwise we'll pay the big dollars for someone who doesn't want to play for us at the expense of someone who does.

Why does he have bad circulation in the cold? Throw in a pair of Ugg boots, mits and fleecy tacky daks and the deals done!
Oh, I haven't accidently advertised Judes and Bucky's new clothing range have I?
