Spot on NMW so IMHO if we do trade Jolly it should be for a early 20's player but a proven one with a good track record, not just some early draft pick that might turn into nothing. If we pick up a good young player we could still get ten years out of him.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Maybe, but his old fella is very wrinkly, so looks older

So what your saying is we should just off load Jolly and pick up a quality midfielder.

I have read that this years draft is fairly weak compared to others.Top picks are ruckman who are already have been spoken of as being claimed.

Yep. Try a few of the big young guys in the ruck position, and rely on them more as followers (like Goodes) than tap ruckmen.

What about Kosi + second pick for Jolly ?

What will we get for Jolly?

Me, I 'm looking forward to what we can get. Here's my thinking...in return for a 5 or 6 year premiership ruckman we would need a plyer of equal influence. Now, decent ruckmen are hard to find (otherwise everyone would have two!!) so I reckon that a fair swap would be for a good midfielder with dash and skills...but not Judd etc, or a good young key position player (but not Franklin etc,).

This player needs to ALREADY have proven himself to be quality (because that is what Jolly will provide in return). In other words he should be around the third or fourth best midfielder in the team...but needs to be more attacking and more talented than J. Bolton, Fosdike, McVeigh, Ablett and Mathews. All things considered he will be around the 7th beat young (under 26) player on the list from which he comes.

                    Who would that be then?

                    Here goes.

Carlton need a ruckman. Best midfielders (and who would never be traded) are Murphy, Stevens, Scotland and Gibbs. We'd take Waite (but they wouldn't give him) which leaves a pretty good fit for Carrazzo. They'd say "he's our best and fairest" to which we'd say, in that case give us Gibbs or Murphy to which they'd say "they're better than him" to which we say "exactly." We might accept Walker instead. No one else that I can think of would be an even swap or a win for us.

Collingwood need a ruckman. Their good young players (in order) Thomas, Pendlebury leaving a good swap for RUSLING, or H. SHAW. This is in a midfield with Lockyer and Buckley so we'd only be asking for their 5th, 6th or 7th best!! We might take Goldsack...but I haven't seen enough to show that he is genuine quality. Maybe Maxwell if he can really play tall. One of those backs could do the job of making Malceski a proper midfielder. Didak does not pass the no d***heads policy.

                    St. Kilda

Dying for a Ruckman. Can't have Riewoldt or Kosi or Maguire or best young midfielders Hayes and Ball leaving a perfect fit for....MONTAGNA. Would consider Gram or Goddard. But that's about it. Maybe that new youngster Gilbert PLUS Armitage (who can't get in the team at the moment but looks good)

                    Richmond

                    Desperate for a Ruckman

We want (but can't have) Foley, Brown and Deledio. The rest of their midfield is too much like ours. They have no decent young KPP, which leaves a dashing, attacking midfielder who needs a fresh start....TAMBLING

                    Melbourne (wouldn't THAT be ironic!!)

Midfielders we can't have but would love - MacLean, Sylvia and Bruce
KPPs we can't have Rivers. But what about GREEN or BATE?? Green needs a fresh star and Bate has shown a lot. Could be a really good large midfielder, I reckon.

Geelong probably don't want a ruckman, but if they did, their list of good young players we would take is huge Ablett, Bartel, Ablett, Hawkins, Egan, Selwood which means that the nest player up is....CHAPMAN. A better player than Jolly, but not getting what he is worth due to the logjam of talent.

Norf have two really good ruckman.

Essendon have no decent young midfielders so they would have to give us Ryder or Gumbleton (doesn't pass the "needs to prove it at thios level test, but he was number 2 KPP forward). They will TRY to give us Bradley and Johns (who can't even get a game for Essendon) or some really average player like Dyson, who is a poor man's Nick Fosdike!!!. Then they'd tell us we were lucky!

Hawks probably happy with their Rucks

Wild speculation fuelled by the media.

                        Goose was discussed here.

And I believe if you search Tenace came up somewhere as well.

And another thing....I got really, really, really mad when I read the newspaper report that mentioned the "cost of living in Sydney" being a problem for Mrs Jolly with a young family.

If that report is accurate I am close to hating him....more to the point I would LOVE to see him traded. I am embarrassed and ashamed to barrack for a player on $300 $400 k who would say such a thing when lots of his fans who PAY to see him play earn 15% of his wage and THEY still have to raise their families!!!

He can really, really, P*** off!!!!

Goose for Jolly ABSO-BLOOMIN-LUTELY. (Would prefer Montagna, though as a fit for our team).

Yes but Buckley is expected to retire and Lockyer is getting towards the end as well. No way Collingwood would entertain that trade.

Ben Hudson of Adelaide has quit the Cows and is demanding a trade to the Bulldogs. That would probably rule them out of getting the Jollys.
