Roosey was being diplomatic. Dempster isn't rated by any club. The favour was to Dempster. Otherwise the humiliation of a delisting. It seems only some on RWO think Dempster would have any trade value. No club does. Ross Lyon did him a big favour by giving him a chance. Good luck to him

Yes Dempster wanted to go, but surely we needed to get at least another draft pick (4th round) to compensate. We may pass on the pick, but at least we had the choice to pick someone up if they slipped through into the later rounds.
Perhaps our list will be full after taking the 3 picks in the ND and the extra pick is not worth asking for, but trading two 23yo premiership players for pick 26 is hard to stomach.Comment

Pathetic. Roos has well and truly lost his mind. If we were trading for a second round pick then we should have at least been looking for a top 20.
Why wasn't an exchange of the first round picks on the table as part of the deal?"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

I told people to ring up the club to show their disapproval of the trade. And yet some people were critical of me for doing so.Comment

).
A club may exchange a draft selection it has received from another club, provided that the selection is not traded directly back to that club.Any draft selection received in an exchange does not need to be exercised. However, any club that passes on a draft selection shall be excluded from exercising any remaining selections at that same meeting.

I think not. We are members/fans of a Club. We are not Share holders where we can influence Club decisions.
Whilst I am sad to see both players leave, Esp. Dempster, I believe the club had their best interest in mind as well as the Club.Comment

Swings and roundabouts. Schneider did some terrific things for us, none will forget the prelim final in '05. But his lack of fitness makes him expendable in todays game: by being unable to join the midfield he therefore places extra load on the midfield rotation. We can afford one like that (ND) but not two. Dempster always had limitations. I'm sure Roos tried for more but it is reflective on poor negotiation skill on our clubs part that we were unable to obtain an exchange of 1st rounders as part of the deal.
But overall, this trading period has not worked out too badly. Mattner was a good deal, and Playfair came for nothing (with Bird locked in to the final selection, and only 2 other kids to be drafted, pick 44 was essentially redundant). We lost one player who was on the chopping block and a talented but lazy small forwrd.
Getting Playfair as KPP depth confirms that Vogels is gone, maybe Reg is in trouble too. No Schneider opens up opportunity for Phillips and MooreLast edited by Old Royboy; 12 October 2007, 07:32 AM.Pay peanuts get monkeysComment

Would it have made any difference, if a million fans rang in?

However on the topic:
I don't care what player we trade, we pay Roos and his staff to make these decisions, however I do have an issue for what it seems we are getting in return. That is my only beef with the situation at the moment.Comment
