He did nothing to earn either of the first 2 50's, that's what I am saying. He should have been paid the free in the first instance.

I'd go as far as to say solely, but otherwise agree. I had only minutes before mentioned to Mrs L how Hall can never get a free. That was atrocious umpiring.

So why did he make head high contact with Mitchell?

Whether or not he should of been paid a free kick is irrelevant. Once an umpire has made a decision that's final. I can't remember many umpires who have changed a decision just because a player decides to have a cry.

There must be a serious wad of cash for the ump who gets to ping Hall the most all season.

It must be a big pot as they all go for it, hard.

But if the game is in the balance, wouldn't it of been a better idea for Barry just to STFU and get on with the game?

Because he'd just been pinged twice. It was hardly a contact. Mitchell was laughing. Anyone else, no problem.

                Precisely.

What irks me the most is that i thought he played OK today, but everyone is going to dwell on the 'brain snap' - which i honestly don't blame him for.

The umpires provoked the response because they go into every Hall contest with prejudice. I have no doubt the umpire then relished the opportunity to pay a 50m against Hall and the subsequent 2.

We don't know what all said to the umpire but it didn't look that bad, and then Roughead took a dive for the 2nd 50. The 150m penalty was a gross over-reaction from a megalomaniac umpire.

That said, Hall doesn't help himself with the way he conducts himself.

Nobody is disputing that he gets a raw deal from the umps. But that doesn't give him the right to do what he did. He's a senior player and should know a lot better. What he did was a disgrace and I've never been more angry about a Sydney player before. It was just completely unacceptable IMO.

But (and this depends on what he said) it does not really seem that he did anything to warrant the frees.

He should of just stood the mark of the initial free and kept quiet. This means it's impossible for the umps to ping anything else on him and play will resume. Don't give the umps a chance to pay anything else.

I blame the official paper of the Sydney Swans. Another off-field article about his next blonde squeeze, and look what happens.

                            Succinctly put.

Exactly right. Hall can't change the umpire's decision but he can change his reaction to it.

Hall didn't deck anyone, 150 metres seemed harsh. Clever provocation bait, by Roughhead and Mitchell, Hall gobbled it right up.... LIKE MY LABRADOR, ALWAYS WANTS MORE
