and then there is the disappointment of being dropped, so you don't expect guys to immediately go back to the seconds and immediately set the world on fire.
Our expectations may have to change!

I fear for the dogs on Reggi and connolly's respective streets if Nick is named in the seniors again, there'll be a kickin' a plenty!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
I don't know for sure NMW, but considering he wanted to come to Sydney, you'd imagine he'd be happier if he's where he wants to be.
Maybe, but we don't really know everything about the background behind the move to Sydney and what is happening now.

...
"He was not noticeably unfit, it wasn't something where we said, 'Look, you have to lose three kilos' or anything like that. It was more, and he said himself, the tell-tale sign was when he missed a few set shots against the Kangas that he realised himself then how down on confidence he was and he is a really confident guy.
So it continues. I think Davis needs a new manager.

Roosey is talking up the trade. When Thommo fronts up for the annual contract negotiations the champ will be offered a pie, Krispy Kream and a can of coke for a game (disdained the KFC reference).

davis could be picked and made captain of the club and youd find some way to make it seem negative for his future
the article today with actual roos quotes is interesting. Probably some of the best stuff he has said about davis. Says what most of who actually watch games (ie not connolly) that davis is a confidence player and a matchwinner.
I think he isnt far off getting back if he keeps working hard. I imagine he will also have next year to keep fighting back, ball is in his court.
I think the things roosy also says have to put to bed a lot of doubts i have had over the treatment of davis, still some wierd things in comparison to others but oh well, as we all know we arent privvy to the goings on inside the club

yeah well unless its Paul Bevan - then no one else makes it onto Connolly's all too creepy "I love Paul bevan and if could have his kids I would" radar! because P Bevan is the greatest player ever to play the game apparently!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Interesting that Roos himself would nominate confidence as a factor in Davis' struggles this year.
Anyway some encouraging words at last from Roos and it seems Davis is closer to a return than previously thought.
"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
He's played at and failed at two clubs with strong team ethos and team traditions. But hey its Roos and Malthouse fault. Pathetic
That's a ridiculous comment. How are you judging failure? Collingwood didn't want to let him go and he single-handedly won a final in Sydney which ultimately led to a premiership.

In your opinion he may have failed at Sydney, but he was still in the team at Collingwood when he wanted to be traded, hence the tirade from Malthouse. To read any differently into what was said is just stupid.
You have a bad habit of putting words into peoples posts that aren't there. I said nothing about it being the coaches fault. I challenged your false assertions. To try to deflect the argument on another tangent is a sign that you have no reasoned point to argue.

As for collingwood, they were angry to lose him hence their comments, they just felt betrayed.
Which is exactly why I challenged connolly's incorrect interpretation of the comments by Malthouse.

indeed - let hope the boy gets his act together, mojo back, confidence up and make a good return. time will tell.

This must take the pot calling the kettle black award. So Malthouse wanted Davo. Do ya reckon he'll take him back. You have asserted a breathtaking and completetely unsubstantiated conclusion that Malthouse wanted Davis to stay at Collingwood. And this in the face of the man's unequivocal words that:
1. Collingwood didn't want Davis
2. He wasn't wanted because he was not a good person
Your assertion that Malthouse attacked Davis character because he was piqued has absolutely no basis in evidence or any reasonable imputation.
And you then grandly assert that a literal reading of Malthouses words is the weakest argument you have seen here. Breathtaking! Oxygen!!!!

Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse's words were frank. "We are disappointed that Nick Davis is gone," he said. "But as we have said before, we only want good people at this football club."
What part of "we are disappointed that Nick Davis is gone" don't you understand?
Also, if Collingwood didn't want him, why was he offered a new contract during the 2002 season?

He failed the most important test an elite footballer can be put to. He is not a good clubman, team player nor does he work for the team. Perhaps you call selfishness success? I choose to see it as a failure of character. I think Mick Malthouse agrees with me. As for Roosey don't let the spin confuse the issue. Roosey is not going to let Thompson do what he did at St George - provoke an internal slanging match over a player who is going to be cut next season and divert the club from its objective of winning a flag.
