To be fair to Connelly, I think he means that he's not being a good clubman whilst at the club.

I don't think changing clubs has anything to do with being a good clubman or not ... sometimes, that decision is right out of your hands.

I know what you are saying Annie, however, connolly's comments were in relation to Davis leaving Collingwood, and that made him not a good clubman.

Banished Davis' future is as a Swan, says Roos

Now I know as well anyone not to take anything Roosy says to the media TOO seriously ( ), but this is the most positive he's been about Nick in a while. If half of what he says is true then it would appear that connolly is losing the argument

Quotes from the above article ...

          from Roosey ....
A failure of fitness, form and appreciation of the modern game were behind him being dropped, Roos said, but he denied that he had made a call on the forward's future at the club.
He is a gifted forward but perhaps one more akin to playing when his father was kicking a ball. Then, forwards did the leading and defenders did the chasing. Now the players at the glamour end of the ground are expected to do the same work as those at the dog end.

Forwards are increasingly measured on how many tackles they've laid as goals kicked, believing that one begets the other. These stats, while important for quantifying defensive work, are only measures of work rate and the broad philosophy that, as in anything, harder work generates results.

"Hopefully he is at the stage now where he has grasped everything. He knows what he needs to do, and he trains hard and addresses the issues he has to address," Roos said.

"He was not noticeably unfit, it wasn't something where we said, 'Look, you have to lose three kilos' or anything like that. It was more, and he said himself, the tell-tale sign was when he missed a few set shots against the Kangas that he realised himself then how down on confidence he was and he is a really confident guy.

"It certainly wasn't one issue or one problem or discipline or anything like that. It was an accumulation and it is a bit about where the game is continually heading. Hopefully Nick can keep up with where the game is going and then he is certainly good enough to play AFL footy.

"We have tried to play him in different roles and the first thing for Nick is just to get his head around exactly why he is out of the team, and I think he has done that, and then there is the disappointment of being dropped, so you don't expect guys to immediately go back to the seconds and immediately set the world on fire.

"He was probably getting close to playing again and he had a back injury and didn't play last week."
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

The club is trying to manage a potentially divisive and diverting issue in the run up to a Grand Final campaign. Thompson has a shocking track record of splitting a football club. His performance in this regard at St George- Illawarra should be instructive. Punch ups with teamates, self serving and self seeking press leaks, and eventually thrown out of the club after a trail of diversion and havoc. Roosey will not play this game and yes he does occassionally use spin. As he is in this case. If Davis wasn't going to be cut before Thompson charged in, he will be now. Now lets get on and concentrate on the club winning another flag and leave the reserve grader where he will probably play out the rest of his 12 month contract. In the reserves.

you could easily ignore it as you say by not making the same negative comment on davis in this thread in 400 different ways.

and i dont think we need to be concentraitng on this forum at thursday lunch time for the club to win a premiership.

Im not sure how you get all this info out of the articles you read? i presume you are getting extended versions??

the interesting part is i havent heard a peep out of the man himself, even though according to some he is selfish and ready to talk about himself non stop.

perhaps he is working hard to get back in the team.

My comments were in relation to the way he left. He literally walked out - twice. Collingwood which has a really strong group tradition retreived him the first time and gave him another chance. Does this sound familar? He did it to them again and they were so hostile to him they banned him from attending an important club function. Collingwood has never had a player do this to them in living memory. To put Bolton (told he had no future at the Lions), Hall (uncontrollable in a dysfunction club and now admits it), Mattner (went through soul searching before he left the Crows) is a bit rough.

Mr. Lance Thompson is doing that for him. Just the boy for the job. We don't need these people at the club.

Precisely my point. Rockhead was a talented player who failed with the Bloods as a clubman and team player. Didn't want to be here and showed it in the way he played.

a manager saying a player need to look elsewhere next year? so? he hasnt been getting a game.

i didnt know the manager rang the paper himself either

when has davis shown he didnt want to be at the swans?

what was wrong with him leaving collingwood?

how many players have we gotten from other clubs? a few have even captained the club.

Don't be so dramatic. He was a 17 year old kid who never wanted to go to Sydney - that was clear from the start. We shouldn't have drafted him knowing that.
