Probably hit the nail on the head.

Most clubs like to announce their delistings all at once, rather than dripfeed them through. Makes a lot of sense for the 3 or 4 youngsters who are about to get cut and are hanging on for news of their careers. Chances are that the club hasn't completely made up its mind yet, especially with the ROK situation still hanging in the balance. They don't know how many picks they want to use, or how many players they'll have to clear to make those picks.

In all likelihood they would rather the news wasn't known. The comments from Davis were very gracious but there was no confirmation on his delisting from the club. Maybe he was asked not to say anything publically - certainly it is at least possible, if not probable, that the news on his delisting was leaked by that manager of his.

Some gracious comments by Paul Roos on the Swans' website isn't much to ask for given the circumstances.

im sure the club and probably davis himself knew he was going to be delisted about 4-5 months ago.

The club should have its delistings sorted by now anyway, did the off season catch them by surprise this year, because they havent done much right yet.

as pointed out I dont think they would have them completely sorted out. For as we didnt replace ROK in the trade period, his spot on the list is completely up to grabs. Perhaps if he goes, one of those on the chopping block might stay rather then replacing him with a draft pick.

i also meant we should of had the okeefe thing sorted out too, a trade done or resigned him so either way we get something out of it. The club should not be waiting on him to decide still

The article linked to the OP suggests that Roos spoke to the media.

Roos said Davis told him he would nominate for the draft.
                Probably just a lying journalist.

Depends whether they have provided him a slightly better offer to consider since Friday.

Might be the same money but have guaranteed him 4 years like Carlton are said to be throwing at him at present.

In the end they have another 3 weeks to decide, before he would have to nominate.

The longer it takes makes it more likely he will go, but it does show he is still undecided.

Would be a bit strange for a journo to talk to Roos, have the chance to ask him questions directly on what appealed to him about Shaw, whether ROK might stay and why Davis had been delisted yet choose just to ask whether he thought Davis would nominate for the draft.

Not inconceivable, I suppose, but not particularly likely either.

Might have been all Roos said, but more likely that it was made up and the only way that any of us know that Nick has been delisted is because his manager spilt the beans.

well shows that Kirks spot in the side is guaranteed until he's 40

The Swans have treated Davis like crap all year, why would they start being nice to him now that he's leaving - not like Roos to be a hypocrit is it? As I have said previously if you have personality & a bit of flair dont come to the Swans because that will be knocked right out of your game - Vespa better be careful with his youthful exuberance!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

That is one kid I honestly worry a bit about. Reading "The Draft" and watching him play t is staggering how similar Pat and Nick seem to be.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Maybe the reason there has been no official Swans release, could be due to the fact that they have not made it official yet.

Lance the great, probably can't keep his big mouth shut, again.

The phone call Nick received from Roos was unofficial?

And don't forget, it was probably Lance who asked the journalist to lie when quoting Roos it the article that announced it.
