I can't believe you actually looked that up. Just as well you're not a Swans fan.

Impossible now. Can't play in 2009 with any other AFL Club.

Although he won't play against us, he has broken a contract to play elsewhere. The last Swan to do that was Fred Campbell. He will still play again.

If Taigh the footballer was Taigh the husband and father of two, happily married for 10 years, then does the walk on the wife and kids and trades her in for a younger model.

He says: It was 10 wonderful years but I had to leave so as to achieve other goals I set for myself. Would every one be still patting him on the back?

It has to do with commitment, sadly not understood by some who don't have that character trait.

I would have no problem if he retired in September last year. Swans could have given another kid a go. They could have left Thornton on the list.

Oh well, he's gone, thanks for the memories. Better luck in marriage.

For God's sake get over it Connolly. Roosy is a transparently decent man, and ditto for Tadhg. If you can't see that you're a sad and sorry individual.

I had to show the wife that one.
She's always thought football was more important than her.

Oh no, i've just realised, I'm cheating on my wife.

Oh my some people! He is not going to play for another AFL club and while it is bitterly disappointing that he left the decision till now, it has happened.
We should all be celebrating someone that has been more then a good servant for our club, rather then absolutely blasting him for it.
He was integral to a premiership victory and I will never forget some of the vintage performances he has put in. We will move on, he will move on, but I will never forget some of the great enjoyment he has given me.

So slowly you didn't even bother to address any of the reasons I posted as to why the club shouldn't keep an unhappy player at the club.

Too busy jumping up and down screaming CONTRACT! CONTRACT! like a bitch.

The fact is, the Sydney Swans have decided it's in their best interests to release the player - not out of a gesture of goodwill, because if it didn't suit them they wouldn't - but because it's the best thing for the football club as a whole.

Now dry your eyes and front up for the season.

Thanks for the compassion. But it is quite unnecesary. These old irish eyes will be smiling when Kerry gets its comeuppance. Kerry believe that Kenneally will deliver them a championship. He won't. Fortunately i am a supporter of the mighty Cork. There are compensations.

Of course he is a thoroughly decent man. But Paul Roos is also a very smart man and ever since he started playing footy he has developed his public football persona so as to endear himself to the public, his clubs supporters and importantly the press. No one dares bag Roosey because he is seen as the nice guy and only nice things get said about him in the press. TV and radio interviewers are all over him like a cheap suit. In short he is good bloke but he didn't get to where he is by being soft and warm and fuzzy in his pursuit of immortality.

Strewth even Jon Ralph wrote a piece today about the reluctance to recruiit and develop youth over the past few years, but put the spin on the article that it was the very reason Roos signed on for another 2 years; to bring the youth through to glory for the club again.

He is a great front man for the club and does it really well, even if some of his utterings merely makes fools out of the grovelling journos who hang on his every word. He is great at feeding the chooks, probably learned off the greats John Kennedy and Alan Jeans.

But like those blokes he is a hard nosed coach and businessman who gives his complete loyalty to his players and treats them with respect and expects that respect and loyalty back. Underneath he is a very tough individual when it comes to coaching and professionalism. I have absolutely no doubt that he and some leading players at the club, plus Ireland, let alone the committee are really spewing behind closed doors having just been done over big time.

Especially Ireland after his press release saying that he was staying.
