I'm not critical of Jolly wanting to return to Melbourne, as unfortunate as that is. However I'm not happy about him deciding that the only club he wanted to go to was Collingwood and I'm still very unhappy about what we got from Collingwood. I go back to a previous post i made and think we should have gone for 1st round and Medhurst (who might be happy to leave the Pies). Medhurst is surely better than pick 46 would have added some spark and talent up forward (a potentially good replacement for MOL). On a good day he is brilliant.
(Jolly to Pies, Pick 14 & 46) If Jolly leaves, I'm gonna cry....

Played mostly reserves in the second half of 2009.
We will be better off with pick 46.
All in all, I am happy with what we got for Jolly, as long as we can snag Mumford.Comment

It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

John Worsfolds realisation that he needed to play a player behind the ball in the space in front of Hall and Magic had way more to do with the outcome than anything else.
It's about the only time he has done it and was a radical departure from the previous final in Perth in the first week where Hall and Magic kicked at least 10 between them and we won the game.

I'm sick of these pathetic loser who put family first.
They must attend the birth of child, marriage, etc.
They are not just hard enough!!!!
No wonder we don't make the finals.doof-doofComment

Depends on how you assess what we should have paid.
Could we have got him for less? Who knows. We don't know what other clubs were sniffing around him. And remember that trade currency is lumpy. 16 might have been on the high side but our next pick was at 32. This lumpiness means sometimes you land up paying (or receiving) slightly under the odds, sometimes slightly over). It is something Pies fans conveniently overlook when they continue to whinge that the Swans duped Collingwood over the Davis trade. Yes, what we gave might have been slightly low given his age and prospects, but surely they can't argue he'd shown enough to warrant up giving up pick 7 (which later became pick 5 and McVeigh)?
If you use the benefit of hindsight to assess whether we gave too much for Jolly, the equivalent pick in other years has brought players like DOK and Willoughby to the club. How many games did little Willo play before being delisted? How much "trade value" did we recoup when he was delisted? Will DOK ever play one? Will he even get a chance to try next season?Comment

We won a bloody premiership with Jolly, therfore we didn't pay over the odds.
I would have given Melbourne pick 1 if I knew that Jolly would have played in a premiership with us in our first year.

I walked into the 2005 Grand Final dinner with Jolly. I said "I guess you're happy about coming from Melbourne now Darren?" and he replied "Melbourne? Who are they?" And laughed. I suspect he may have the same attitude about the Swans by now.
Thanks for 2005 Darren - and thanks for nothing for 2006. You played very well for us this year and we're grateful for that. But now, if Baz wins a Premiership with the Doggies I'll be very happy - as long it's not against us. But I'd be equally happy if Darren never plays another winning game with his new team.Comment

Yep - just what we need cuts the bonds loose:

Doesn't it though. Well I don't think we would ever accuse the bloke of being the smartest or most sophisticated kid on the block. You didn't get statements like that from Shaw, or from Nick Davis (who could teach Jolls a fair bit about how to make major change with diplomacy no matter how unpopular).
I would never boo Hall or Monty, but I am puckering up already for Jolls. Which saddens me.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment
