As for the club(nee Roos) rolling over meekly and accepting pick 14 and pick 46 for a
one the premium ruckman in the comp...shame on you.
    Now now.

Blame Jolly's wife. SHE's the one that wants to go back to Melbourne.
A happy wife is a happy life matey!!!

    We've got Seaby.

That's TWO picks in the first round of the last uncompromised draft for a while.

So many all knowing, soothsaying experts on RWO, they must be all the ex Blues and Magpies who tossed in their memberships over the years.

If Fev wasn't going to be around for the next premiership tilt than neither was Jolly. Let's face it we were probably lucky that he signed his last contract and to get a couple of picks for the trade is not a disgraceful outcome.

The draft might be shallow this year but as I understand it, that's only because the Gold Coast have taken the best dozen or so 17 year olds out of it, rather than the talent this year being horrible per se. I'm sure we'll do ok and DOK is sure to come on this year.

I think I must be the only one reasonably happy with our trade period so far.

Trade week always throws up a lot of debate and discussion ... in the end, you just have to work with what you have left at the end of the week!!

We have traded away a player that didn't want to be in Sydney and potentially have recieved 2 new ruckmen (seaby + mumford) and possibly a young midfielder (kennedy) AND gained another pick in the first round of the draft ...

I really think that we have come out of this the best we possibly could have and now i am excited to see all these new faces at the club next season along with some exciting young talents - all we can do is focus on the make-up of the team next year and not lament the players we still wish were here!!

            CALM THE @@@@@@@ DOWN.

Roos said that the Mumford deal was all but done. Jolly is gone for 14 + 43, who cares. Plus it hasn't even be confirmed and you are just taking it off a rumour. Pick 39 will prob be used to secure Mumford while this one will be used to secure someone like Kennedy. Essentially, if we can get one of these two players for 43, we will have essentially have gotten pick 14 + kennedy or mumford out of this deal which is a win. So don't worry. Would you rather have 43 or a rubbish player that Collingwood were offering (someone who they wanted to delist probably).

He's young, and I'll bet they want either a 2nd round pick or 3rd round and a player....like most other clubs, the Cats know how to shaft the Swans...think Playfair, think Chambers.

If we can keep pick 6 & 14 (28 would be nice as well )and get Mumford and Kennedy then we've probably done pretty well as it will be hard to find quality after pick 25 if previous shallow drafts are anything to go by

Would have been nice to come out of that trade feeling like we screwed the Pies. I guess we'll just have to pray we haven't handed them a premiership

I'm over Jolly leaving. No point having a player who doesn't want to play for us. At least ROK requested any Melbourne club, by nominating a club Jolly did stuff us in negotiations.

We should have had a cooling off period for this trade. If Roos was about to jump on a plane in a tantrum he was hardly in the right frame of mind to agree to a trade For memory he threatened to pull the same stunt over Spida! The Pies gave up a first rounder for Wood last year, so it's clear we've been short changed.

Finally, I couldn't care less about his reasons for wanting to go back. But I have a problem with people speculating about what that reason may be based on a few obscure comments from Roos, and then laying into other posters for daring to express an opinion. If you can express an opinion on what may be pulling Jolly back to Melbourne, then others can at least make comment on those purported reasons.

trade him now while at his peak value, he has probably played his best football, not expecting much decline but doubt he will top this season again.

If we dont trade him now will go in two years anyway. We just have to use our picks well, and hold on to both first round picks!!!!

No more than Hall did. And although halving a contract, at least Jolly played out the entire season for us. And really well, for that matter.

What Hall & Tadhg did to us this year was #$%^ing disgraceful imo. And we got practically and exactly nothing respectively for their sudden departures.

A player can nominate whoever he likes, doesn't mean he's going to get there. In a way it helps us as we can focus our attention on getting the best out of one club rather than 9 (Melb clubs).

Getting another 1st & 3rd rounder in this of all drafts is a pretty good outcome for us.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

It is purely and simply a business and it is a contract that exists between the player and club - the same as any other employment relationship. it is not serfdom.

I am a little disappointed that the club couldn't manage to negotiate a little better and somewhat disappointed with the collingwood or stuff you approach.

But I am happy that we are going to have a core group of 18-25 yo who are hopefully all ambitious because that implies we should be going somewhere in 2-3 years.
                        Agree with all of that.

I'll add that as far as I'm concerned, Jolly had a very valid reason for moving on.

Exactly. We resurrected Jolly's career. At least with ROk he said that he did not want to move if the Swans dont get a good deal. ROK was never gonna enter the pre-season draft. If Jolly was given the chance he would have screwed the Swans over.

I certainly will be booing him.
